*Individuals, Couples, Adults, Teens & Children* We are shaped by our experiences and what we believe about them, but we can all be re-shaped by new information, awareness, and insight which helps to change how you view your past experiences, a "want-to" and consistent and deliberate effort. Whether we have experienced the pain of trauma, divorce, neglect, "wrong" choices, career challenges, relationship/marital issues or feelings of helplessness or hopelessness, it doesn't negate the PURPOSE for which you were created and the success which awaits you.

No one wants to live in a stressful, unhappy home. But this is the result when adults and children don't know how to communicate with each other in a safe, non-combative way. Parents whose children have ADHD , ADD or suffer from anxiety, depression, attachment and separation issues, cutting or obsessive-compulsive disorders say the coping and change strategies they develop through my counseling sessions are enabling them to become, in one mom's words, "more normal" families.

In addition to advanced training in treatments to help clients with depression and anxiety feel better, I have successfully supported many adults with ADHD and I live life as an ADHDer myself.
I help high-achievers, ADHDers & first-generation strivers develop healthier coping mechanisms to achieve more while having less resistance! Being a high achiever means that others may not recognize that you are struggling. You are savvy, so you have naturally found workarounds for your areas of weakness. This allowed you to excel in your career, but overworking & being in a constant state of anxiety eventually catches up with you. This can show up as work stress, unfulfilling relationships & decreased confidence. You need a therapist that understands the unique challenges that come with being an outlier & can help you bounce back.

Are you Autistic or ADHD and want a therapist who actually understands your struggles, strengths, and needs of your neurotype? Have you tried therapy and felt like you still weren’t understood and that it didn’t work for you? What would your life be like if you quit masking and spending energy trying to fit in, only to still feel like an outsider? How would it feel to work with a therapist who was also neurodivergent and helped you see that you’re not broken, rather trying to survive in an environment that wasn’t made to fit you? Looking for a nerdy therapist who can teach you healthy methods to hack your brain? That's me!

I specialize in working with men’s issues, chronic depression, and adult ADHD .
Emotionally intense personalities, deep thinkers, and busy minds with sensitive hearts are welcome here. You're probably tired of people telling you that you're "too much": too needy, too talkative, too picky, too clingy, or (gulp!) too sensitive! Meanwhile, you're almost constantly feeling not good enough inside: like a fraud, a failure, and falling short of finding the love, the career, the friends, the life you've aimed for. You've possibly wondered if you have chronic depression, anxiety, or adult ADHD . Anxiety, aloneness, existential angst, indecisiveness, and insecurity can leave you in an emotional tailspin.

My clinical expertise includes: assessment for learning disabilities (dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, etc), ADHD (child and adult ADHD assessments), and emotional difficulties; and parent coaching/training.
Are you concerned your child has a learning disability (dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia) or another disorder (e.g., ADHD )? Has the school recommended testing? Watching your child struggle in school can be disconcerting and demoralizing, especially if you’ve tried to help in every way you know how. Perhaps you know your child is bright, but you can’t understand why they are not demonstrating their true potential? Or, maybe assisting them with their homework is so time-consuming and taxing that you feel inadequate, as if you are failing them as a parent? Let me collaborate with you and your child to help them reach their potential.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
