Trying to figure out how the puzzle pieces of life fit together is not easy. Relationships can be a beast. I will work with you to identify what’s most important to you while crystallizing your relationship goals in a manner that empowers you to incorporate actual skills into your everyday life and relationship. For example, improving communication, exploring intimacy, and the art of letting go of past traumas can allow you to discover what works for your unique relationship. Embrace the healing process, learn to set healthy boundaries, and communicate from a place of love.

For my adult clients, therapeutic issues typically focus on depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationship concerns, stress management, self-esteem,
marital
/relationship discord, and life transitions.
The wealth of my experience lies in working with children, adolescents, and their families. Common issues facing the children, adolescents, and families that I work with include divorce, depression, anxiety, OCD, mood dysregulation, behavioral difficulties, ADHD, family conflict, school performance issues, and social difficulties, such as peer conflict, bullying, and poor social skills. Family therapy typically centers on improving family communication and relationships, assisting parents in coping with their child's emotional or behavioral issues at home, and building healthy boundaries, expectations, and family roles.

It’s truly incredible when a person sees that there’s something inside them that they want to work on, and then they go after that. It’s incredible that you’re here, that you’re searching. The people who want to be the best version of themselves, who want to break “generational traumas” and work on their mental health so that they can pass down health, wholeness, peace, and light to the next generation - those are the superheroes. Our mental health is our foundation for how we relate to ourselves and world around us after all - Our God, ourselves, and others.

I believe that life is a journey that we travel with people that aid us in our growth and development. As we sit together talking and sharing, we discover new perspectives and insights about ourselves and life. Because we see life through the lenses of our experiences, emotions and beliefs, there are times when we need someone to listen and help us sort through our thoughts. From a strength based, holistic, and collaborative approach we can explore your journey, where you've been, where you are now and where you would like to go.

Life can be hard. Sometimes we have difficulty communicating with our boss or loved ones. Sometimes we have difficulty adjusting to new circumstances. At times, we may feel stuck and unsure of how to initiate change. Other times we may want to delve deeper and truly understand our motivations and desires. Sometimes we just want to feel heard. I strive to create a space safe where my clients feel comfortable sharing. I actively engage in conversation with my clients, meet them where they are and work collaboratively with them to bridge the gap between their current state of being and living their most fulfilled lives.

Marriage Counseling Therapists
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.
How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.
Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.
Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
