Working from a perspective of radical acceptance, I am looking forward to working with clients who are currently navigating challenging life transitions. I am adept at working with adolescents and young adults, primarily around issues of perfectionism, anxiety, and self-esteem. As a former Division I athlete, I have the skills and experience to work closely with clients who are currently negotiating the stressful and unique challenges associated with high level athletics, at the high school, collegiate, or professional level.

I may be a counselor but I'm always Jasmine. I bring my authentic self to each session so my clients can feel safe to do the same. I strive to meet my clients where they are and assist them in gaining the tools they need to accomplish whatever goals they have set for themselves and become the version of themselves they desire. I don't believe in the "one size fits all" method and truly tailor not only my approach for that client based on their needs but also each session. I'd be honored to assist anyone in the journey with mental health wellness. Who said games are for kids? Therapy Uno anyone?

You’re the one everyone depends on. You show up, you handle things, you keep going but deep down, you’re exhausted. Your mind doesn’t stop, you overthink everything, and even when life looks “fine” on the outside, you don’t feel at peace on the inside. Maybe you struggle to say no without guilt, feel emotionally overwhelmed but still push through, or find yourself in relationships where you give more than you receive. You’ve learned how to be strong but not how to slow down, receive support, or prioritize yourself without feeling like you’re falling behind.

We only get so many days. Let's use them well! I can help you regain control over your time, relationships, and emotions. You don't deserve to be always overwhelmed, always behind, and always second best. What if the reason you feel different is because you ARE different, and what if that's not a bad thing? You're NOT wrong or broken, but you may need to set some boundaries, talk through difficult events, get organized, or figure out what you want to happen next. Worried or depressed feelings don't have to keep us from having a fulfilling and productive life. You can find a way to release the art inside you. Try therapy with me.

Relationships can be one of our greatest sources of joy, but when they become strained, they can also be one of our greatest sources of emotional pain. You may find yourselves having the same argument over and over, feeling more like roommates than partners, struggling to rebuild trust after infidelity, or wondering why even the smallest disagreements escalate into painful conflict. If you're feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or uncertain about the future of your relationship, you don't have to face it alone.

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from Kennesaw State University, where I graduated cum laude. As a New Jersey native who relocated to Cobb County in 2005 as a single parent, I understand firsthand what it means to navigate life's challenges while keeping it all together. I've worked across a range of settings — from inpatient adolescent care and community-based services to substance use and mental health treatment programs — and I bring that breadth of experience into every session with the people I serve.

Are you troubled by self doubt, questioning your or your partner's level of commitment, or contemplating walking away from a relationship? Perhaps you are feeling disconnected from others or frustrated by an unsatisfying sex life. Is the conflict in your family extreme? Are you struggling to coparent effectively? You may be single and exasperated by the drama that sometimes comes along with dating. Or, a parent who is helplessly watching your child or adolescent struggle educationally or in social relationships. If any of these statements resonate with you, I can help you navigate your journey to contentment, confidence, and bliss.

You’ve worked hard, achieved so much, yet something still feels off. The pressure to excel, the weight of expectations, and the unspoken struggles of navigating life as a high-achieving Black woman or man, a young adult, a college student balancing it all, or a couple trying to build a strong foundation—these challenges can feel isolating. But you don’t have to face them alone.

Stuck? Let's figure out why. Overwhelmed? Let's work to move through the storm. Not feeling heard by your partner? Let's find avenues to open up clear lines of communication. Frustrated in your relationship? Let's identify the areas of opportunity that can re-ignite that spark. Always down? Let's dig past those triggers and discover a way for you to create a journey that inspires you. Anxious? Let's identify the culprit and establish tools that will lead to internal peace. My name is Mark and I would love to get that smile back in your life, that warmth back in your soul, & that peace back in your spirit.

Coming from an unstable childhood, I understood the importance of building and maintaining positive relationships. By the time I graduated from high school, I lived in 22 different homes and went to 10 different schools. I would later earn my Bachelors and Masters Degree from South Carolina State University, become a Licensed Professional Counselor, and developed a passion for assisting others with embracing and overcoming adversity and develop a positive mindset for a successful life. I founded Courage & Motivation Psychotherapy and Coaching Inc. in 2009 to create a platform to motivate and elevate clients in the state of GA.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Vinings?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
