I have a broad range of experiences, and specialize in women's concerns, college student development,
parenting
, life transitions, and interpersonal dynamics.
Life is full of challenges. Some challenges are easier to tackle and we might even welcome them. Yet, other situations are difficult to manage and we may not be sure how to move forward. As a psychologist, I specialize in helping those with whom I work to make sense of their world and the challenges we often face. I place particular emphasis on how each of us constructs our diverse perspectives and the ways we interact with those around us. I value the strengths of each individual and work to facilitate self- understanding to enhance the quality of their life.

I primarily work with children, adolescents, and young adults. I can help get through developmental changes and lifestyle transitions including changing schools, family changes,

The core component to successful therapy is a warm and trusting relationship. We will begin building this relationship from our very first call where hope and alliance begin to emerge. In therapy, we will integrate evidence-based treatments, clinical expertise, and your preferences to create a personal, culturally responsive, and comprehensive treatment plan. No matter what you are struggling with, be it anxiety, trauma, OCD, relationships, or big life transitions like becoming a
parent
, my goal is always to help empower you with autonomy, wholeheartedness, and meaningful connection to guide you toward your own values.

Making the decision to begin your therapeutic journey can feel overwhelming. My goal is to create a safe environment for you to grow and explore the things that have been holding you back. This could be feelings of anxiety, trauma, communication issues, difficulty establishing boundaries, toxic relationships with family or friends, or a major change in your life that has left you feeling confused or lost. Our work together will include identifying triggers and patterns of behavior, as well as recognizing roadblocks and reframing negative thoughts.

It's totally human to end up fighting with or checking out from life from time to time - however, when that way of responding to life becomes the default, you'll start to notice the impact. Once you've reached that point, you've likely tried many other ways to shake off that habit of overwhelm, high-alert worry, disappointment or pissed-off more often than not. I work with college students 18+, young adults and adults on difficult transitions & phases of life, self-doubt & shame, trauma, depression, anxiety, panic, perfectionism, overthinking, pregnancy/postpartum, relationships &
parenting
, to learn how to take good care of you.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
