I have more than a decade of experience counseling adolescents and families in the school setting; however, the pandemic gave me the opportunity to tap into my passion for working with adults. As a result, my counseling services focus on helping women of color (BIPOC) address the following issues: anxiety, depression,
life
transitions, nutrition, relationship issues, self-confidence and/or self-esteem, Superwoman Schema, and work-related stressors.

When a person's mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional health is strong and aligned,
life
seems to "flow" better.
Listen. Learn. Liberate. I believe in having vulnerable, courageous conversations; I care deeply about social justice, spirituality, and whole-health healing. I help my clients to learn more about the origin of certain limiting beliefs about themselves and the world, and how these beliefs inform their current actions and relationships. I am most passionate about relationships (including our relationship with ourselves), and I proudly served many underserved communities, including black and brown communities, the LGBTQ+ population, and the Muslim population. También hablo español! I am not providing in-person sessions at this time.

Many times we find ourselves stuck in a mundane
life
and unclear how we arrived at an unhealthy destination.
As a nurse for 33 years I have learned that many physical illnesses are the result of emotional traumas, and unresolved grief. I believe everyone has the answers to their dilemmas, deep within themselves. The reason our internal information is not readily available for decision making, is due to
life
events, which has taught us not to trust our inner truth. Our Logic, our Heart, and our Instincts are often in conflict with one another, which results in Confusion, Distrust, and Fear. Sometimes we need someone to just listen and to help you learn how to listen to our self truths. By learning this skill you will grow in confidence an

Common reasons for coming to counseling I see include anxiety, depression, college/
life
transitions, couples working through conflict and looking for improved communication, creating a healthy self-relationship, adjusting to
life
as a new parent, pre-marriage counseling, trauma and post-traumatic stress, and spiritual/faith challenges and traumas.
People often come to counseling feeling stressed, overwhelmed, worried, depressed, and sometimes unsure of where to turn next. My goal is to create a relaxed, comfortable, “come as you are” space that is free of judgment to talk through whatever obstacles are impacting your
life
. My approach is client-centered and focuses on relationships in order to empower you to take steps toward the healing and growth that you desire. I trust you to be the expert in your
life
as we walk together toward achieving your goals. In my work, I use a blend of techniques from IFS, CBT, DBT, and mindfulness to best meet your needs.

You might be overwhelmed by difficult thoughts, feelings or situations. You’ve tried everything you, your family or friends think will make things better, but it’s just not working. Deciding to seek therapy is one of the most important decisions a person can make. It is also one of the hardest. People are sometimes hesitant to come to counseling because they fear they will be misunderstood, judged or simply not heard. They believe therapy isn’t “for me” and therefore think there is no hope for change. I’m here to change that mindset.

Life Coaching Therapists
What can I expect from life coaching?
Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.
Can a life coach help treat anxiety?
Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.
Can life coaching be done online?
Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.
How long does life coaching last?
Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
