Hello and Welcome! I go by Dr. J and I am part of the clinical team at the Aguirre Center for Inclusive Psychotherapy. I seek to empower my clients by exploring how dynamics of power, privilege, and oppression have shaped their lives and/or resulted in marginalization, discrimination, and trauma. I greatly enjoy working with individuals who hold minoritized identities, particularly individuals and couples/polycules from the Q+BIPOC and Neurodivergent communities. Additionally, I enjoy working with athletes, and as a former collegiate athlete, I understand the unique internal and external pressures that athletes often face.

I believe in creating a new therapy for each client and that you are the expert of your life. By building a trusting therapeutic relationship with you, I want to help guide you through the challenges life can bring. I utilize an integrative, person-centered approach to therapy, emphasizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Art Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and several other therapeutic modalities. My clinical experience has given me the skills to efficiently treat ADHD, Adjustment Disorder, Complicated Grief and Loss, Anxiety Disorders, and Mood Disorders.

I work individuals and couples to help build better relationships and coping strategies for times of conflict and change. Having worked for several years with substance abuse groups along with anger management and family violence intervention, I have helped people of all ages to move beyond the negative self talk and low self esteem in order to be successful and thriving in their personal lives and relationships with others. I also offer EMDR to address trauma. Because I believe there is not a single way to deal with life, I like to meet my clients where they are in their own lives and help them to accomplish their personal goals.

I believe that couples and family therapy can provide a uniquely powerful context for relational growth. My work is compassion centered, life-affirming, and kind. My practice is a safe space to explore neurodivergence and gender/sexual identity. I provide support to autistic adults and adolescents and those with suspected or diagnosed ADHD, anxiety, and depression. My area of specialty is treatment of anxiety (including OCD) and depression co-occurring with autism or ADHD using Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Behavior Therapy.

I am the owner and operator of Oconee Center for Behavioral Health. I am a marriage and family therapist who specializes in child and adolescent therapy. I also frequently work with families and couples who are in distress.

Helping people find the strength in themselves to walk through life and handling the issues that seem too heavy to bear. I work in a homey setting that disarms and makes feel people feel free to share and do the work they need to do to have their best lives. My referrals largely come by referrals from past clients.
