The stress that people face comes from all sides. Therapy is a road to healing and health when stress and anxiety become a burden. If you are a woman overwhelmed by the demands of life, and feeling like you are never enough for anyone, counseling will provide you with the necessary support to be more present and confident in your daily life. If you are are a teen feeling disconnected from your parents, your friends, and yourself, counseling will give you tools to understand yourself and connect with those most important to you. Many in today's world are looking for answers to difficult questions. They want to know how to handle the problems they face within their marriages and with their children. Marriages are falling apart because couples lack the skill to communicate their deepest needs. Parents and their children fall into a similar trap and are losing their connections to one another. If you are angry and worried about your future and are losing hope, I urge you to seek help. I offer help from a Christian perspective in marriage and parenting .

As a parent , there's nothing worse than watching your child struggle. Standing by and watching their grades fall and their anxiety rise is excruciating, but nothing you've tried is making the situation better. Your child doesn't seem to know what's due or when, they are unorganized, have no plan for studying, lack effective study habits and skills, and have trouble disengaging from their phones. Communication is breaking down between you and your child and they seem unmotivated and apathetic toward school. You may also be questioning if your child is just being a typical moody teenager or if it's more serious. Are they depressed?

I provide parent coaching, individual therapy sessions, and work with interdisciplinary teams (occupational therapists, speech therapists, educators).
I specialize in supporting children and families using a strength-based approach. I believe in neurodiversity and that there is not a "one size fits all" intervention. I work with children, adolescents, and young adults who have been diagnosed with Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, Developmental Disabilities, ADHD and/or Anxiety. I help families to see their child's potential and advocate for education services.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
