It’s no secret that teenagers can be challenging. You want to help them be responsible, kind, hard-working, and respectful. They just want you to leave them alone. Or they have such strong feelings that they can’t seem to control them. Maybe you feel like you’ve tried everything, and nothing is getting through. The great thing about asking someone like me to talk with your son or daughter is that I’m not you. Maybe you even feel like giving up sometimes. Well I love working with “challenging” kids. The ones that parents have all but given up on. Maybe the kid has given up on themselves. This doesn’t have to be their story forever.
I love helping "lost kids" to choose a manageable life over a miserable one. It’s not a secret process. Yes, I’ve spent thousands of hours working with teens, and their parents, but it's often the fact that I treat them like a person worth talking to that helps them open up. I don’t have a history with them that gets in the way, like other adults often do.
They are worthy of my time and attention, and I engage them with authenticity. No fancy psychobabble. Just us finding ways they can take ownership of their lives.
