I specialize in working with clients who have experienced trauma including PTSD, C-PTSD and dissociative disorders. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental, identity-affirming space where we can explore what may be causing difficulty in your life. I help my clients develop self-compassion and acceptance while addressing and healing the root causes of their trauma, anger, anxiety, depression, and grief. I view psychotherapy as a collaborative experience between therapist and client. Together we will envision where you want to be and I will support and challenge you to grow and heal.
My background as a professor of psychology for over 20 years provides a rich perspective from which I draw. I specialize in the assessment and treatment of trauma-related disorders. I have over 30 years experience in helping adult clients (18 and older) with anxiety, depression, trauma (C-PTSD), grief, family and relationship issues, and substance abuse.
I work to develop a genuine and caring relationship where you can feel safe to explore. Embedded within an anti-oppressive framework, my approach to therapy draws from attachment theory, object relations theory, and somatic awareness. This type of therapy works in depth, allowing layers to surface for observation, understanding, and deep and lasting change.
