In working with clients, I hope to help individual's discover their uniqueness. However, over my 18 years of working with people as a psychologist, I have also come to appreciate the many similarities inherent in being a human being. Often people come to therapy because they feel, "Something is wrong with me." I have found it to be healing when a patient realizes, "Oh, that's a normal response," given what has happened. They can then be open to learn ways to work with their symptoms, to work on their goals, and to begin living a satisfying life with the ability to find the inherent joys, along with the challenges, in life.
I offer a compassionate, nonjudgmental space to develop one's best self while working through one's concerns. I use cognitive-behavioral therapy, specifically Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), to help clients be more effective in relationships, to better manage difficult emotions, to live mindfully, and to develop realistic goals for their lives.
My hope in working with clients in my practice is to offer others a safe place to be, to share, to connect, and to heal. I realize we all need to be listened to, validated, and therein, to feel felt. We all need support periodically throughout our lives, and I want to normalize this need and help others discover, and develop, their best selves.

Groups
Process Group for Adults w/ Elderly Parent(s)
I am considering starting a virtual group wherein middle-aged adults can share their concerns/difficulties involving their elderly parents and receive ideas for how to handle this potentially difficult period in life. This will also be a group to receive and offer support to others who are going through a similar life experience. At this point, I am finding out if there is an interest in joining such a group. If this sounds like a group that would be beneficial for you, please respond either through an email or a phone call. Thank you, Dr. Weitzel
