I believe that every individual should receive therapy that is centered on one’s own wellbeing and desire for self-importance. My goal is to help individuals accept and trust themselves and to feel valued being themselves. I have worked alongside BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, those within the criminal justice system, and intersecting identities. I have a background in supporting individuals who experience depression, anxiety, trauma, personality disorders, and schizophrenia. I have been passionate about psychology and helping others for as long as I can remember. One of my early passions became to destigmatize mental health care. Mental health is just as important as physical health. I work with a variety of individuals working to live happier and healthier lives by overcoming many different issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship conflicts, and more. Through my own personal experience, I know beginning the therapy journey can feel a bit daunting, however I am here to help create a safe and collaborative space where you are comfortable.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and am working on finishing my requirements to be a Licensed Addiction Counselor as well. I joined the JFS Boulder team October 2023. Prior to this, I have worked in hospital settings providing inpatient psychotherapy and psychiatric evaluations. I have also spent time providing school-based psychotherapy as part of a grant funded program. I am originally from Illinois, but after moving to Denver for graduate school have been proud to call Colorado home for over 4 years now. I completed my master’s degree in forensic psychology in 2021 at DU.

My training for my doctorate was in child and family clinical practice and I obtained post-doctoral training in forensic psychology. I also received over 300 hour of training at the Neurosculpting Institute. In addition to my clinical and forensic practice, I have provided consultation services in such settings as Head Start, Federal Corrections, and Child Protection Services and for agencies serving the developmentally disabled. A large part of my practice has always included providing psychotherapy for children, adolescents, couples, and families. I have been married for over 30 years and have seven children.

I work with a variety of ages, specializing in young adults, and my work history has focused in crisis work, anxiety, depression, and trauma. However, I have trained in many areas and work with clients with a variety of concerns and diagnoses. My counseling philosophy is very person-centered, which I believe creates an open, non-judgmental space for my clients to feel safe. I utilize a variety of counseling interventions including CBT, DBT, and play therapy, and I value humor and creativity! I have experienced trauma myself and I help others how they want to be helped. I have experience with the LGBTQIA+ community and know firsthand some of the some of the challenges that come with being a part of that community.

My name is Stephanie Norris and I am conveniently located in Centennial and Littleton! I utilize an integrative, individualized treatment approach, drawing from cognitive behavioral, motivational interviewing, and family systems theories. As such, I believe in providing goal-directed treatment. This means that we develop treatment goals together, after a thorough assessment. All treatment is then planned around progressing toward the achievement of the established treatment goal(s).
