Our counselors use a variety of approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Adlerian, and Person-Centered counseling. We will help you reduce unnecessary suffering caused by rigid ways of thinking, harsh self-criticism, and avoidance of difficult thoughts and feelings. We work with a variety of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, mood swings, addiction, grief, and trauma. We have staff that offer bilingual counseling services in Spanish and Mandarin.
We also offer yoga and mindfulness instruction, have EMDR-trained clinicians for trauma processing, and offer weekly SMART Recovery support groups for addiction.
Together, we will determine your goals for counseling, develop a plan to get there, and then work together toward that end. We encourage most clients to start with 6-8 weekly sessions. Some people continue much longer, some take breaks then return, and some decrease to less frequent sessions.

SMART Recovery

SMART Recovery group addresses problems related to any kind of addiction. SMART uses a four point program: building and maintaining motivation, coping with urges, managing thoughts and feelings, and living a balanced lifestyle. Meetings follow a structure including an opening statement, brief check in time for each participant, agenda setting based on issues brought up at check-in, group discussion, check-out, and passing the hat for donations. Meetings are free, but SMART encourages donations such as the cost of a drink, in order to support the all-volunteer facilitators and meeting locations.

SMART Recovery for Family and Friends

The SMART Recovery for Family and Friends program provides skills, training, and support to individuals with a loved one with addictive behavior. The program uses the evidenced based CRAFT model (Community Reinforcement and Family Training) which teaches families to optimize their impact while avoiding confrontation and detachment. With peer support, you will learn about the stages of change, maintaining balance in your life, setting healthy boundaries, and avoiding enabling behaviors. This free program offers peer support to learn how to help your loved one choose recovery.
