I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with many years in private practice helping people with all sorts of problems in life. Because I’m older, I’ve had many of the problems that are common to us all and dealt with them successfully, including life transitions, relationship problems, career difficulties, financial challenges, weight control, and mood and emotional problems. Because I discovered an effective weight loss and control method, losing over 100 pounds after 25 years of obesity and failure, weight control has become a speciality. I’ve also had lots of experience and success helping people with severe mental illnesses.

Living life on life’s terms is challenging. My purpose is to guide, as you change old patterns of limiting thoughts and behaviors, and increase your capacity to live more fully. Your decision to pursue change is a strength. You will develop your internal resources, gain insight, and learn new ways to respond that allow for change and growth. When you become aware of your immediate experience and create space to observe it clearly, you can choose how you respond. In that moment, you can ask yourself: ‘how do I want to act?’ and ‘how do I want to live?’ The shift from reacting to responding is empowering and transformative.

My practice is limited, as I'm a full time Psychology Professor and Department Chair at a Florida State College. I have over two decades of experience providing psychotherapy and relationship counseling. Athletes experience depression, anxiety, guilt, shame, stress, and pre-existing mental health conditions .
