Many
women
experience a lot of shame and guilt during this process.
Family building can be an incredibly difficult time for those struggling with fertility. The emotional rollercoaster of months and years of trying, countless exams, tests, injections, and procedures can be daunting. Many individuals can even experience trauma from all the physically invasive procedures that occur with fertility treatment. Each month a pregnancy attempt fails you can experience grief, isolation, anger and fear that the dream of building a family won't be attainable. Those able to conceive also struggle with intense emotions during pregnancy and postpartum that can be overwhelming and hard for others to understand.

I offer EMDR therapy specializing in
women
who are impacted by trauma, anxiety, grief, and eating disorders.
Externally, you are accomplished, dependable, and seem to have it all together, but internally, you feel empty, anxious, and alone. Your heart races, thoughts overwhelm your mind, feelings of insecurity hold you captive. You are unsure of your purpose in life. At times, memories of painful life experiences flood your mind, and it feels as though you are reliving the event all over again. Your nervous system feels like a revved engine. Thoughts of the past bombard you, and you are worn out. You desire freedom but are afraid to trust people as you have been deeply hurt. I want you to know there is hope! Life can be different!

I have a passion to work with couples, children, adolescents,
women
, & families. As a married couple, are the challenges destroying your marriage? As parent, are you experiencing frustration that your child is acting out at school or home? As a single, are you tired of failed relationships? As a
woman
, are you lacking the support you need? Just think, with all the time and money invested in sustaining a family or preparing for a wedding, it only makes sense to invest a little more time and finance in building a strong foundation for yourself, your child and/or your marriage.

My strengths are with
women
, Latinos, the GLBT community.
Do you feel that you are stuck and not moving forward? Wouldn't it be nice to get unstuck and move forward. Anger, hurt, resentment, low self esteem, past life experiences can keep us stuck. I find that not having a voice, not feeling heard causes us to feel small. These things can cause us to feel sad, angry, anxious, depressed and disconnected. My approach and hope for those I assist is to help you stand up a little taller and be able to get through to a place of feeling that you are important.

I LOVE my job as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I predominantly work with
women
of all ages who have been through traumatic events, are transitioning and recreating themselves, grieving after loss or divorce, or needing help resolving inner or relationship conflicts. If your goals are to find peace, strength, balance, and healing, I could be a good fit on that journey. Together we’ll work to decrease loneliness, reduce suffering, develop healthy boundaries, and become a strong and empowered person. My greatest joy is when a client “graduates” and feels confident to live as their most powerful healthy self!

My practice is focused on helping
women
of all ages, with a focus on young
women
and teen girls.
I specialize in providing therapy for
women
who want healing from relational hurts, losses, feelings of anxiety, or disappointment from how life has turned out differently than you expected. Some of the issues I've treated are: anxiety, perfectionism, depression, self-harm, setting healthy boundaries in relationships, healing from divorce and breakups, grief, and infertility and pregnancy loss. These issues can leave you feeling lonely and misunderstood, but my hope is that I can help you feel less alone as you process your story so that you can make sense of it, but most importantly, so that you can find healing in it.

Whether you are trying to heal from trauma, disappointment or looking to implement positive changes into your life, therapy is a partnership in which we will work together to identify or achieve your personal goals of health.

You’re a
woman
- Society sends mixed messages on your worth: it’s tied to your body, your relationships status, your accomplishments.
What if you loved and accepted yourself for who you are at this moment? What if you trusted yourself to make the best decisions for your life without the pressure of family, friends, and social media? You’re a millennial - Times are different. There are no guarantees that a college education will give you security. You’re hustling because it seems like everyone is ahead of you. You want something more than a 9-5. You want purpose and meaning.

I help Millennial
women
to overcome self-doubt and performance-related anxiety.
Throughout life, you've become a master at taking care of others before yourself, or even shape-shifted yourself to what others desired to be loved and accepted by them. Maybe you've even had a tendency to want everything to be perfect, even at your own expense. Feeling at peace with yourself can sometimes feel impossible, but it doesn't have to be. Building a healthy relationship with yourself and others can happen. Tending to your inner-critic provides us with insight and nourishment.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
