I specialize in codependency, eating disorders, substance abuse, anxiety, depression , dual-diagnosis, and LGBT issues.
The decision to seek therapy can be intimidating. But the reality is that we all encounter struggles as we walk through life, and I seek to normalize and destigmatize the concept of mental health. The same way that we seek help from a physician when a physical problem is out of our control, sometimes we must seek a professional who specializes in healing the mind when our life becomes unmanageable. Far from being shameful, embarking on this journey shows considerable strength of character. I am passionate about creating a safe space to process feelings and explore new ways to understand your own thoughts and emotions.

I enjoy providing the tools and support needed to overcome family dysfunction, trauma, relationship issues, or feeling stuck in anxiety or depression .
All humans are imperfect and despite our imperfections we have intrinsic value and worth. Yet, how easy is it to get stuck in a trap of believing that our value depends on our performance or being liked by others? My practice focuses on helping clients gain insight into the origins of their troubles in a non-judgmental and safe environment.

My therapeutic approach is a casual one. I strive to make therapy something that feels comfortable for a client, more like a conversation with a friend than something clinical. My focus during sessions is always client-centered, as only the client can know what they need to get out of our time together and thus what they need to put in. I specialize in working with anxiety, depression and relationship issues but have experience in much more as well. I have a background in addiction counseling which has provided the foundation of skills necessary to be a truly empathetic, effective healer.

"I constantly overreact in anger." “I feel like I am walking on eggshells in my relationship or I am tired of having the same fight.” Do any of these thoughts sound familiar? We can explore various concerns - my experience areas include trauma, stress, anxiety, depression , life transitions, and spirituality.
It's difficult to find support for the struggles you are facing. From a foundation of compassion, I will work next to you as you learn from and manage your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Using up-to-date training, we will identify self-defeating patterns that served us well in the past, but cause problems in the present, and limit options for the future.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression therapists in Winter Park. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
