You never thought your marriage would look like this. The fights. The yelling. It's all exhausting. You want to stay married, you just can't see how to make it happen or if it will even work. It feels like in the midst of doing life together something changed and the spark that brought you together feels like a tiny flicker now. You want things to be the way they were before life got so hard but that feels like lightyears ago. The passion is missing. The trust is missing. Intimacy is practically non-existent. Talking even feels difficult. You're ready for things to be different, but need a little help figuring out how to get there.

As a couple and family therapist, I love to help people address all kinds of relational issues. Relationship concerns often look different for different people, but to me they include anything that negatively impacts you or how you interact with people in your life. I believe the stories we tell ourselves have a very powerful impact on our lives and how we see the world. Many times, those stories end up holding us back in some way. I guide the process as you change them to be more in line with the life you want to live. My goal is to help people create a life where they feel empowered, courageous, and authentic.

I enjoy working with adults who are interested in working through various concerns, such as stuck points, repeated problems in love or in themselves, that seem to persist. Helping teens that are dealing with low self-esteem, depressions, or anxiety is also a primary focus of my practice. My approach will allow you to explore your feelings and desires in depth in a environment that is safe and nonjudgmental. The outcomes vary, but many clients discover freedom from longstanding patterns of behavior or self-image. Others simply get free from needing perfection from themselves or others.

There may be times in your life when you feel as if you are surviving life instead of enjoying it. Now may be one of those moments. Survival is an instinct that drives many human behaviors and is completely acceptable. Moving beyond survival requires support. Life can be challenging at times and seeking help with those challenges can be intimidating. If you are seeking emotional wellness, self-acceptance, personal growth, or help in finding answers, I invite you to call for consultation and determine whether I am the right therapist for you.

Beginning the therapy journey can be difficult and finding the right therapist for yourself is important. Therapy allows us the space to process our difficulties, to talk through difficult decisions and figure out the path that we are wanting to take. I believe human connection is what leads to the most success in therapy and finding that right person can feel overwhelming. I would be honored to help you to achieve the goals that you have set for counseling.

Being human is hard. Life with all it's twist and turns can be so confusing, what's right today is wrong tomorrow. Quite possibly you have been thinking about finding a counselor for some time and have been "fighting" societal stigma of mental health services. Telling yourself that you are fine, no one will understand, or feeling shame for needing help. One of my favorite quotes about healing is..."Healing doesn't mean the damage never existed. It means the damage no longer controls our lives."

How does therapy for infidelity work?
A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.
How long does therapy for infidelity take?
Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.
How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?
When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.
How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?
Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
