Domestic Abuse Therapists in West Palm Beach, FL
A person may decide to go to therapy after building up the strength and courage needed to ask for a little help, but then you are left with a big choice and the selection appears vast. One of the MOST important decisions you can make is in finding the right therapist for YOU. I have a very strong background in life and spent over 10 years working in residential treatment for addiction. That afforded me an opportunity to work with issues ranging from mood and personality disorders to early trauma. Originally, I pursued a life in the arts but now my pursuits are directed towards giving both children and adults a chance to feel better.

My counseling style is empathic, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that change is possible. I work with adults at different stages of life who may be navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, or simply feeling stuck and wanting something to change. Our perceptions of ourselves and the world around us influence how we experience our lives. The meaning we assign to events and experiences can shape our thoughts, emotions, relationships, and choices—sometimes without us even realizing it. As awareness grows, new possibilities for change can emerge.

You may be someone who is thoughtful, reflective, and capable—often showing up as “high-functioning” in your work and relationships—yet internally feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or caught in patterns you can’t quite shift. Anxiety, unresolved trauma, emotional reactivity, or relationship dynamics may be surfacing in ways that no longer align with who you are becoming. You’re not looking for quick fixes; you want clarity, emotional safety, and meaningful, lasting change. You’re ready to understand yourself more deeply, heal what’s been carried for too long, and build a life that feels more grounded, authentic, and aligned.

The purpose of therapy is to take what you have learned and apply it outside. It is not always easy to make changes, and change can be scary, but once you put your words into action, the change can be beautiful. I have worked with people who struggle with substance use issues, depression, anxiety, and families. I have a passion for working with people in the BiPOC community. I want my clients to believe in themselves and what they can accomplish without needing external validation. My goal is for you to feel confident in your decision-making to process your needs/issues without relying on others.

True connection only happens when you let people into the places you normally keep hidden. If you’re a member of the LGBTQ+ community, you’ve probably been hiding a lot of who you are – maybe for a very long time. After all, if they can’t see you, they can’t hurt you. It’s a coping mechanism, but as you know, it’s not a viable long-term strategy for living a full, authentic life. You can’t experience intimacy and healthy relationships when you’re not fully showing up as yourself, which leaves you lonely, isolated, and disconnected. It’s no wonder LGBTQ+ individuals face higher rates of anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Have you experienced narcissistic abuse by a spouse or family member?
I am warm and empathic. I use EMDR therapy as my main intervention. During our first sessions I will help you develop a life timeline, which lists significant or traumatic events that have had an impact on you. From this we identify your core beliefs (ie I am not good enough) and begin the transformative and healing process...its worth it.

You don't have to manage anxiety, depression, trauma or PTSD alone. Symptoms like trouble sleeping, unshakeable sadness, emotional numbness or intense emotional reactions that feel uncontrollable, flashbacks, they all get in the way of really living.
We can reduce these symptoms together. Whether you need a safe space to process, or you're looking for an action plan to reclaim control, we'll create that healing environment. Show up to the extent that you can and I'll meet you there.

Domestic Abuse Therapists
What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?
Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.
When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?
Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.
What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?
Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.
How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?
It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
