As an experienced Anxiety therapist, I believe that we all have the strengths needed to calm the chaos in our life, and that we just need someone to guide us there.
Anxious, overwhelmed and emotionally exhausted. This is what it feels like to be constantly overthinking situations, which leave you feeling disconnected from your true self. Whether it's school, work or your relationships, you are feeling fearful, on edge, or irritable, no matter what you do. You might not even recall a time where things didn’t feel this way. What you do know is that you are searching for change and relief. You are ready to learn how to manage these difficult thoughts and emotions. You are ready to find joy, feel confident, and worry free. You are ready to focus on you.

Often, we seek support simply because we are souls in need of novel ways to protect ourselves in a world that does not always honor the sensitive, unique, or creative. I skillfully and empathically align with such souls. I have decades of experience and proven approaches to empower individuals challenged with anxiety , depression, relationship struggles or existential fatigue resulting from being a highly sensitive or creative person who has lacked the necessary collaboration to gain greater self-understanding, expression, and actualization. Together, we can create a life that works for you! Not just surviving, but thriving!

My areas of interest include: PTSD, trauma, child abuse, anxiety , anger, and parent child interactions.
ADULTS-We have all learned ways to survive this lifetime, including you. I know you are a survivor because you are reading this...but wouldn't life be better if you were thriving? Life can be overwhelming due to past events resurfacing, worry, anger, relationship issues, or difficult parent-child interactions. You can continue to survive these events...after all you've gotten this far, or you can learn to address these issues and ultimately thrive. I believe through the course of a positive relationship, therapeutic interventions, and a client's self determination, change can occur to help reach your goals.

As a committed Christian, I can tell you that we are not exempt from trouble. Sometimes the troubles and losses we experience can cause anxiety , stress, depression, hopelessness and despair. If you experience these things, the wise and courageous thing to do is to ask for help. My counseling style is supportive and compassionate, yet challenging when necessary. If you choose to work with me, I will integrate our Christian faith and value system along with evidence-based treatment strategies to help you move from hopelessness toward freedom and healing.

Relationships, careers, and retirement dreams cannot thrive when you are hurting. I work with adults, both individuals and couples, to treat grief, anxiety , depression and difficult life transitions (retirement, divorce, relocation, illness, end-of-life issues), as well as communication and sexual functioning. Some clients are anxious to free themselves from nagging issues of the past, while others struggle to discern the best path for their future. I support couples who want to increase intimacy, and I help couples who have already decided to separate to do so as respectfully as possible.

The season is changing and still nothing’s changed. Every morning is the same. The alarm goes off and you hit the snooze button over and over, before finally tumbling out of bed. Why? Because facing the day is drudgery. You get all the necessary tasks done, but without enthusiasm, connection, or joy. The panic and fear are just icing on the cake. That voice in your head tells you, “Don’t bother you’ll never measure up.” No one knows how hard it is to keep going. It doesn’t feel safe to tell them. Where did the voice come from? When did it start? Too long ago to remember. One thing’s for sure – nothing you’ve tried has worked.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
