I also provide psychological evaluations related to clinical, academic, and forensic issues for children, adolescents, and adults.
I enjoy working with someone who has struggled in relationships or with reaching educational or career goals and has been feeling saddened or frustrated with their limited success. While forming a working relationship, I focus on helping the person to develop realistic goals. I balance my work between teaching new coping skills and helping the person address and resolve conflicts with others as well as within his or her self that have interfered in the past. Then, we focus on gaining motivation toward using the newly learned skills and making significant changes in his or her life.

I help women who are navigating major life transitions. Whether you’re moving through a breakup, entering a new relationship, or stepping into a new chapter of life, these changes can bring anxiety, self-doubt, and a sense of feeling disconnected from who you once were. You may feel overwhelmed, unsure of yourself, or questioning your worth as everything feels unfamiliar. Many women find themselves feeling this way during times of change, and you don’t have to go through it alone.

Twenty-two years providing counseling services to people has taught me much about us as humans: how much we have in common and how much each of us has a unique story. I take great delight in helping people tell their story and make a new script for their future. We work together to foster healing from past hurts, to learn new skills for self-care and to build strength in those all-important relationships in clients' lives. We can work on short-term problem-solving with a coaching style or deeper healing therapy.

You’ve learned how to function, but not always how to feel at peace. You’re likely the one everyone else relies on—pushing through while feeling secretly overwhelmed or unseen. Many of my clients are navigating the complexities of identity, culture, or neurodivergence in a world that wasn't built for them. I provide a space where your actual experience is the priority, not a checklist. Together, we’ll build the insight and emotional regulation you need to stop just "getting by" and start moving forward with genuine clarity and self-compassion.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
