I work with individuals suffering from
trauma
, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, along with Veterans.
Unprocessed traumatic events produce overwhelming emotions causing distress and impairment to both your personal and professional life. I assist individuals in reprocessing negative core beliefs i.e., (“I’m damaged; I’m not good enough”) proven to decrease anger, anxiety & depression. I assist couples in identifying the problematic root cause of emotional distance by increasing their emotional accessibility, emotional responsiveness and emotional engagement with their partner. In a safe, nonjudgmental environment, I equip both individuals and couples with the proper skillset needed to get unstuck & return to a thriving life.

Hello! I am so glad you're here! I know how difficult it can be to take the first step toward healing. Life comes at us fast and it can be hard to manage all of the transitions and hardships that we may endure, that’s where therapy comes in. That is why I prioritize cultivating a space where you can feel safe and heard while having those difficult conversations. It is important for individuals to have a space where they can be themselves and learn skills that can help foster healthier lifestyles. Making the decision to prioritize your well-being is one that will benefit you immensely and I’m proud of you for doing it!

You didn’t ask for the hand you were dealt, but here you are holding it. After experiencing
trauma
or something unexpected you may be struggling to find your footing again. So much has changed in so many ways. Or maybe you’re so accustomed to feeling the way you do that you can’t pinpoint what went wrong but you know you need something to change. Everyone needs to ask for help at some point. The way I practice therapy is
trauma
-informed. This means I’m thinking about the impact your experiences may have on your behavior, mental health, and ability to engage in treatment before you even walk in the door and explain it to me.

I bring with me more than 15 years of working with children, adolescents and adults and a specialization in
trauma
related psychological services.
My approach focuses on discovering "what happened to you" rather than "what is wrong with you", so that we can address the unique and changing ways that
trauma
continues to interfere with your current life. For some individuals, the
trauma
may be a single incident with specific triggers and associated symptoms. For others, the
trauma
may have occurred on numerous occasions with less specific triggers and a complex group of symptoms that have been treated unsuccessfully creating diagnostic uncertainty.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
