I do not believe there is one “ideal client.” I work with a broad spectrum of individuals from all walks of life, because mental health challenges do not look the same for everyone. Some clients come seeking support for everyday struggles such as anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, burnout, or life transitions. Others arrive carrying far more complex and high-acuity mental health needs, often after feeling misunderstood, overlooked, or denied services elsewhere. I am passionate about meeting people where they are, especially those who may have been told they are “too much,” “too severe,” or difficult to treat.

I have over four years of experience at Davis Sound Mind and over three years working in intervention in suicide prevention for the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay.
I have worked with diverse populations, including but not limited to survivors of trauma, sexual concerns, and addiction counseling. While I work with many problems, I often focus on teens and young adults, easily connecting and helping them develop resilience and coping strategies for the future. I have extensive experience working with law enforcement, firefighters, and the military, providing specialized support for these groups' unique stressors and traumas. Understanding the demanding schedules of individuals, I offer extended hours, seeing clients from 9 AM to 8 PM Monday through Thursday.

As a therapist who has walked a similar path, I understand how difficult it can be to move forward when you feel stuck or overwhelmed by challenges that seem insurmountable. I firmly believe in each person’s capacity for growth, resilience, and meaningful change, even under the most difficult of circumstances. You are the expert on your own life: my role is to help you strengthen that expertise with clarity and confidence. As a result, I work best with clients who are prepared to engage actively in the therapeutic process and apply these principles beyond sessions.

My ideal clients are individuals in Florida, Utah, Washington, or Massachusetts, struggling with OCD and anxiety disorders who feel trapped in cycles of intrusive thoughts, overthinking, reassurance seeking, or avoidance. Many worry about worst-case scenarios, feel stuck needing certainty, or spend hours trying to make things feel “just right.” These patterns can affect relationships, work, school, and daily life. I help clients break these cycles using evidence-based treatment, building skills to tolerate uncertainty, face fears gradually, and regain confidence so anxiety no longer controls their choices.

In therapy, we get to understand our individual stories and work towards writing the future we envision for ourselves. I recognize that each person has a unique perception of the world and these differences should be embraced in a supportive and judgement free environment. In my therapeutic practice, I use cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing techniques in conjunction with solution focused interventions to problem solve solutions to develop practical and individualized coping strategies for depression, anxiety, substance use, and other severe and persistent mental health issues.

Being more connected to ourselves or the important people in our lives is central to living a healthy, fulfilled life. When we feel out of alignment with ourselves or disconnected to those we love, our life may feel out of control. When this happens, it can lead to unhealthy choices for both our physical and mental wellness. I work alongside my clients to help re-establish those connections that seemed to have weakened over time. Like a GPS navigation, I assist my clients in finding the direction in life that is most suitable to resolving their problems. It is a collaborative process between the client and me.

Are you having difficulty communicating with your spouse or partner? Do you feel unheard or alone in your relationship? Maybe it feels like you are having the same fight over and over? If so you, you are in good company. The number one issue couples report is ineffective communication. Interestingly, research suggests most issues couples face are perpetual. The good news is solving these issues is not as important as learning how to have respectful communication about them. The better news is helping couples communicate more effectively about tough issues is my specialty.

At first, my career was focused on advocacy and mobilizing communities around social injustice. I then decided to shift my focus to clinical work and since becoming licensed I have worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds. It is important to me to start where my clients are and provide a safe collaborative relationship to work towards their goals. Treating my clients with a trauma-informed lens is vital to create a safe space to allow for healing. I use a variety of modalities to best identify my client's needs and provide an individualized treatment plan.

Suicidal Ideation Therapists
How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?
Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.

Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?
The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
