Hi, I’m Kahlilah, a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern and Sex Therapist in training. I’ve spent over 15 years working in the mental health field, supporting children and adolescents navigating school and emotional challenges. Through that experience, I realized how much a parent’s well-being and relationships can influence a child’s growth and that inspired me to expand my work to include adults who are navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, and self-discovery. My goal is to create a safe, judgment-free space whether you need support for communication, intimacy, or personal healing.

Throughout my counseling career I have worked with veterans, couples, complex families and many other demographics. There is absolutely nothing that you could say to me that would shock me or cause me to be judgmental. I believe that a trusting therapeutic relationship is an essential component of this process. I want you to know that I am capable of holding anything that you may need to share without intimidation or casting shame.

The dragonfly, in almost every part of the world, symbolizes the change in the perspective of self-realization. The kind of change that has its source in mental and emotional maturity and the understanding of the deeper meaning of life. We weave this meaning into the fabric of our mission and in the work we provide to every client enrolled at SHARE. Are you stuck or lost? Are you struggling with anxiety and fear? Are those intrusive thoughts derailing your days? Feeling disconnected from yourself or your partner(s) can leave you feeling unloved, undesirable, and alone. Whatever your struggle, I am here for you.

Hello! My name is Ashe Sullivan (pronounced like Ash). I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with experience in therapeutic work, focusing mainly in grief/loss, trauma, and behavioral disorders. I have experience in telehealth video sessions as well as in-person. My approach with clients is humanistic and heavily client-centered; the other main component is trauma-focused work.
Often, trauma or grief can be pushed aside as we move through our lives to focus on other things: careers, families, etc. But these things don't stay "out of our way," and addressing them directly can help with the rest of our lives.

Everyone is different and comes to therapy with their own story and their own idea about what they'd like to gain or what they want the process to feel like. Regardless of any experience the therapist has, the individuality of each person should be respected above all else. I enjoy learning about people, which leads to guiding people to learn about themselves. I am a listener and observer who strives to make sure the people in my care feel supported and validated. People who tend to find success working with me have an idea of goals they'd like to meet and want a safe space to share ideas, feelings, and thoughts.

Open Relationships Non-Monogamy Therapists
Why might an individual want to see a therapist specializing in open relationships and consensual non-monogamy?
A client seeking help with an open or consensually non-monogamous relationship will prefer to talk with a professional whom they can count on to be nonjudgmental. Talking with a supportive therapist may on its own help relieve some of the stigma and challenges partners face. That said, the most important factor in the success of any type of therapy is the ability of the client and practitioner to form a strong, trusting bond. For this reason, an individual or couple could find success with a therapist who does not specialize in non-monogamous relationships but with whom they can build trust.
When should open or consensually non-monogamous partners seek counseling?
Like other couples, polyamorous partners typically seek counseling when they face relationship challenges they can’t solve themselves. In non-monogamous relationships, this could include breaches of trust, including infidelity; unclear rules or violations of boundaries; jealousy of outside partners; the stress of juggling the needs of multiple partners; or the effect of high partner turnover on children. Like those of other couples, polyamorous bonds can be threatened by increasingly frequent arguments, poor or dysfunctional communication, diminished emotional or physical intimacy, or the feeling that something is wrong, even if they don’t know what it is.
Do therapists have special training to gain expertise in open relationships and consensual non-monogamy?
No, but individuals seeking help with non-monogamous relationships would most likely consult a licensed professional with specific training in couples counseling or couples therapy. Couples counseling and couples therapy both involve teaching concrete strategies to navigate conflict in relationships. A good therapist can engage both partners as they explain these approaches but can also work with a single partner.
How long does therapy for consensually non-monogamous couples typically last?
Couples therapy for any type of couple, tends to be relatively time-limited, lasting around 12 weeks on average. A good therapist will tailor sessions to the individual partners’ emotions and sometimes their past, along with patterns found to be repeating in the relationship. In many cases, clients should expect their therapist to assign “homework” between weekly sessions.
