Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Dr. Leslie Rainaldi. I offer a broad base of experience helping adults,
couples
, and families with issues like: Marriage &
Couples
Conflict, Anxiety & Depression, Mid-life Transitions, Grief & Traumatic Loss, and Adjustment Problems in Children. My approach is less about treating symptoms and more about uncovering and resolving issues that create troubling or repetitive problems. Often, those I see have tried brief counseling and have been disappointed by results that did not last. Individuals tell me they want real change and enhancement of relationships and the quality of their lives.

I work with adolescents and adults looking for support to navigate the emotional/mental challenges of life. You or your loved one may be dealing with unresolved feelings, challenging life circumstances or changes, health concerns, or experiencing
relationship
difficulties; any of which may be impacting your daily functioning or peace. Therapy is a courageous step with great benefits. In choosing to explore the things that are causing you distress, and by being open to learning about yourself; you can find ways to make the best out of whatever you have experienced in the past or whatever struggle you are currently facing.

Something is not right. You are not living the life you want to live. Perhaps, you are in a situation that you cannot resolve. You are not yourself. Stress, anger, worry, sadness; you can’t seem to shake it off. You are stuck. You may even be experiencing self-doubt or acting in ways that are uncharacteristic. Where did this come from? What did I do to deserve this? How did I let this get away from me? Shame, guilt, blame, and negative thoughts are evident, it is getting hard to see the bright side. Your job,
relationship
, family, health, or peace of mind are at-risk. It is time for a change and deep down inside, you know it.

My work with grief includes trauma, loss of loved ones, changes in health, and working through
relationship
loss.
It is brave and difficult to reach out for help. I provide a welcoming space for you as a compassionate listener. Using an eclectic style combining a number of modalities we discover what works for you. I listen and get to know you; both your dreams and your struggles. You may feel limited by and stuck in repeating patterns that are not working anymore. It is hard to find the way when pain clouds your every day. Sometimes it is helpful to start here; right where you are. I find that the here and the now are full of wisdom if we learn to listen.

I specialize in trauma,
couples
, and infidelity.
My goal is to help you love yourself for who you truly are. This can take the form of identifying who you truly are rather than attempting to fit into the boxes you feel others want you to be. I have a passion for working with individuals who have experienced trauma. And helping
couples
reconnect and understand each other deeper to stop the same arguments from occurring . I want to help you feel more confident navigating the world while feeling safe, less anxious, and able to stop those constant negative thoughts that can be paralyzing at times. I am trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and other trauma modalities

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
