The goal of therapy is to create positive emotional and behavioral changes to achieve optimum quality of life. Over 15 years of experience combined working with adolescents and adults at HCPS, Gracepoint Wellness, Bay Area Behavioral Services, and as a private practice therapist at owner of Bethesda Revive Counseling Services, LLC.
You've achieved everything that should make you feel secure. So why don't you? If childhood trauma, attachment wounds, or relational issues have left you with deep-seated anxiety, shame, sadness, guilt, even as you appear successful to the outside world, there's a reason! I specialize in working with high- functioning young females and adults, who seem to be successful, and yet struggle with trust issues, anxiety, avoidance, conflict in relationships, panic attacks, OCD, fear, social anxiety, or that persistent sense of never being "enough." Here's the paradox: You've mastered achievement. You haven't mastered feeling safe.

My clients are looking to get out of their own way relationally and in life. They accept the responsibility that all good relationships occur within the space of self regulation and full respect living. Healthy relationships are demanding of our time. Working with me clients learn a lot about their own power to influence their lives and the environment in which they live. Our relationships, whether with ourselves or others, are the most important driving force in our lives for long term happiness and life satisfaction. Harvard Study of 2017 " Good Relationships influence the outcome of our health, wealth, happiness and longevity."

On the outside, life looks good. But inside, you feel stuck, unfulfilled, or weighed down by the same struggles that surface over and over again. Many people I work with are high achieving professionals who quietly wonder: “Why don’t I feel happy? What's wrong with me?” I help people slow down, gain perspective, and uncover the unthought knowns; hidden patterns and feelings that quietly shape their lives. Rather than offering quick fixes, I offer an insight-oriented space to explore relationships, emotions, and choices. With support, clients often find clarity, deeper self-understanding, and the freedom to live with more purpose.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist nearing 20 years’ experience, I work with a foundation of Solution Focus and Systemic Therapy. I’m often looking for "the funny" in the moment and the world around me. I greatly enjoy sarcasm, snark, and satire. I'm fairly casual but have been told I "Clean up well", and clients have told me in the past they appreciate that I do not come across as "stuffy".

When will it be time for you to be Happy? We so often put off our own needs to care for others. We do so telling ourselves it will get better around the corner...but around that corner, there's always more to take care of. Your needs fall to the bottom of the list. We can worry about arranging and planning so that nothing will be out of place and no one will be unhappy. Even fun things become a source of stress and tension. It feels impossible to keep everything on track and everyone happy.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
