I believe that every person has a unique story to tell. Life is full of challenges, but it’s through these challenges that we often discover our strength and resilience. I specialize in working with women and college students, recognizing the unique pressures and challenges that each of these groups may face. Whether you are navigating anxiety, stress, struggles with confidence/self-esteem, or simply trying to find your place in this fast-paced world, my goal is to create a supportive, non-judgmental space where you can explore and reclaim your sense of self and build a path towards your vision of peace.

You’ve been holding everything together for everyone else for a long time, but lately it’s catching up with you. You might feel burned out, on autopilot, or unsure who you are outside of work, caregiving, and old expectations. A part of you knows something has to change, but you may feel unsure where to start or how to do it. I help adults, often in midlife, untangle what’s not working, get clear on what they actually want, and take honest, doable steps toward a life that fits them better.

You are the woman who looks like she has it all together- career, family, that bright smile... yet finds herself crying, quietly when no one’s watching. You have been labeled “strong” but that strength feels like both armor and burden. Behind it all, you’re exhausted. You’re carrying heartbreak, burnout or deep-rooted relational wounds and you’re done pretending everything is fine. You crave a place to exhale, to tell your truth without judgment, without explaining, without apologizing. I see you, and I’m here for that.

I’m Dr. Michael Sue Jenefsky, and I am here to help you overcome emotional pain, reclaim your power, and live life on your own terms. Sometimes, life challenges can make us feel isolated, overwhelmed, and like no one could possibly understand. If you're experiencing these feelings and finding it harder to cope, I'd love to partner with you in exploring and improving your situation. I'd like to show you that someone can, in fact, understand. My training – in both Counseling (MS & EdS) and Marriage & Family Therapy (PhD) – makes me uniquely qualified to address a myriad of individual and relational issues. Together, we will use evidence-based methods to increase insight and transform echoes of doubt, pain, and trauma into echoes of resilience and self-worth.

Are you exhausted in a way that rest doesn't fix? Do you feel like you've spent your whole life holding it together — showing up for everyone around you while quietly running on empty? Oak Haven Therapy is a telehealth practice for women across Florida who are ready to understand themselves more deeply and finally stop just surviving. Many of the women I work with learned early to be capable, self-sufficient, and strong. They built full lives. And they've been carrying a quiet ache for a long time — a sense that something important has gone unattended, that a part of them never quite got what she needed.

Our thoughts, emotions, and sensations don’t live only in our minds — they’re experienced through our bodies. When stress, hormonal changes, or reproductive health challenges disrupt that connection, it can leave you feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck. I help women reconnect with their bodies, navigate anxiety and grief, and build a more grounded, trusting relationship with themselves.

You can't find time to do the things you love. You're the sort of person who is deeply curious about why you are the way you are. How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
