I became a Marriage and Family Therapist because I enjoy processing with individuals and listening to personal journeys to find a resolution. I was a High School performance art major and find this skill set benefical in providing supports through visual cues using various therapeutic approaches and modalities. I specialize in working with children and families in child welfare. I enjoy working with young children and teens as these are challenging developmental years, trauma and distress from systemic and familial patterns of behaviors, coupled with low parenting, coping, decision-making and problem-solving skills.

I am trained professionally in Jungian psychoanalysis and depth psychology alongside cognitive, gestalt, and relational models. I work with those with a history of depression, trauma, PTSD, existential distress and sexual abuse as well as life-transitions, identity dysphoria, grief, and crises of self. Together we access the needs of psyche-soul that are calling for attention in order for you to reach a greater sense of wholeness and embodiment. Sessions involve analytical work, meaning-making, talk therapy, and dreamwork as well as cognitive healing and image work to bring the unconscious to consciousness.

I work with a variety of psychological challenges, 1:1 and in a group setting. My ideal client has spent time in therapy and gained insight into their history, patterns, or trauma, yet continues to feel stuck. They often understand what has shaped them, but that understanding has not fully brought the sense of relief, regulation, or ease they are seeking. Many are thoughtful and self-aware, functioning well in their lives while holding a great deal internally. They may have complex or longstanding trauma and are now looking for a depth-oriented, integrative approach that gently engages the mind, body, and nervous system, within a collaborative and carefully paced therapeutic relationship.

Do you struggle with unwanted, intrusive thoughts that seem so taboo you're afraid to get help? Does your mind create all kinds of rules that you know don't make sense, yet not following them feels far too risky? Do you live in fear of one day acting on these intrusions, even though you know you don't want to? Maybe you find yourself doing time-consuming, repetitive rituals for brief relief. Or maybe you try to avoid life altogether. You are not alone. Help is available, and recovery is truly possibly.

Have you been feeling lost? Not in the traditional sense, perhaps, but numb, nervous, or detached. Disconnected from who you are, or where you’re going. Stuck in a fog of unnecessary pain or in the ruts of everyday life, struggling with the same issues, over and over again. No longer will you have to piece together the differing advice of multiple practitioners; together we’ll employ a wide array of supports. Using the best of modern psychotherapeutic practices and ancient healing we’ll reach a holistic solution. As a psychotherapist, I’ve learned pain can be released, trauma can be resolved and healing is your birthright.

Let me know how I can help :) In addition to being certified in DBT and EMDR, I am trained in transpersonal counseling, which means I am open to integrating your personal spiritual or religious beliefs into our work, if that feels meaningful to you.
Are you or your child struggling with stress, anxiety, trauma, parenting or depression? Is life feeling overwhelming, or does change feel really scary? There are tools available that can help you or your loved one with these challenges. Come see if Art Therapy can help you create positive and healthy changes in your life. In addition to incorporating creativity, you can heal and move on from trauma using therapies such as DBT and EMDR. And when you tap into your spiritual connection or a "purpose and meaning" in life, you can find a deeper, more grounded path to growth and transformation.

Counseling is for human beings going through life and its many challenges. It's an opportunity to learn new skills, gain insight, and increase health and wellness. I use a “hodgepodge” approach, many different therapy modalities, customized to fit your goals and needs. My counseling style is holistic: mind, body, and spirit. If one system is impacted, it can impact all of the other systems. We will explore and seek to understand all of the contributing factors that lead you to seek out answers and actions. This journey of self-discovery is guided by myself, but lead by the client. After all, you are the expert on you.

Transpersonal Therapists
How does transpersonal therapy work?
Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.

How long does transpersonal therapy last?
Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.

Is transpersonal therapy effective?
Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilize the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.

What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?
There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
