Grief Therapists in Tallahassee, FL
I would love an opportunity to walk with you through the trials you are facing. You are unique, and should choose someone whose approach and values are a good fit. Your family, friends, and faith can be sources of great support, but also of deep pain at times. The way through may not be easy, but there IS HOPE! When life seems to be falling apart, you need a safe place to share your burdens and find that grace, mercy, and reconciliation are more than just words. I consider my office a "toxic waste dump"... and God recycles!

Whether we are engaging in grief work, managing depression, or processing trauma, I am an honored collaborator.
Whether it happened to you, around you, and/or in you it happened. Life is a contact-sport and we need to be as whole as we can in order to get the most out of it. But many times it's difficult to do alone. Whether it's naming the problem, describing the issue, adjusting to how it has shaped you, or creating a new you after; you don't have to do it alone. Whether it's recovery from childhood pains, managing emotional difficulties, recovering from devastating losses, or reclaiming identity after trauma; therapy is incredibly helpful as you are given a navigator-companion, that walks through the dark with you to get to the light.

Maybe you’re grieving a loss that’s changed everything, trying to figure out who you are now.
In our work together, you don’t have to hold it all together.
You don’t have to be perfect, productive, or even polite.
This is your space to exhale—to show up messy, anxious, exhausted, angry, or heartbroken.
I’ll help you untangle the patterns, calm the mental noise, and reconnect with the version of you that doesn’t have to earn rest or love.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
