I use many approaches that are tailored to your individual symptoms, needs, and goals. However, the goal is always to improve your life in the here and now, to build the life you want. My clients face problems that appear impossible to overcome or live through, whether it is addiction, personality problems, the impact of trauma, or feeling haunted by and stuck in patterns from the past.

I have enjoyed working with children and teens for 35 years as a School Psychologist, assisting with academic, behavioral, social and cognitive concerns, as well as completing psychoeducational evaluations. I developed a passion for helping children and adolescents who were experiencing anxiety and depression, so I became a Licensed School Psychologist so that I could shift my focus to providing individual therapy for youths struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, and emotional dysregulation.

At times we all face things that can feel challenging, insurmountable, or overwhelming. I view therapy as a space where my clients can share their experiences and explore patterns where they may be feeling stuck. I am passionate about helping clients work through this stuckness and detangle obstacles that may be standing in the way of the goals you desire to achieve. I recognize that taking the step to seek therapy can feel vulnerable and I am intentional about providing a nonjudgmental space as we work together in addressing the challenges that bring you in.

As a specialist in Eating disorders and OCD, with lived experience in both, I can help you find relief and learn the techniques you're searching for utilizing tools like ERP, and ICBT.
On the outside it looks like you have it all together, but inside you're engaged in a constant struggle for control. Your anxiety, OCD, and/or eating disorder has taken over your life. You find yourself in a constant loop of feeling worried, nervous, stressed and at times not good enough, thin enough, or smart enough. You’re stuck and unable to find the relief that you crave, so you try temporary fixes. Sometimes you disconnect and avoid people and your responsibilities, sometimes you binge, sometimes you purge, and sometimes you try to use anything that will distract your mind. You find, however, that your mind just wont turn off.

I'm passionate about walking alongside people who have a sense that, "Maybe, just maybe, it doesn't have to always be this way." Perhaps you're feeling stuck in the same relational dynamics, holding beliefs and ideas about yourself, others, and the world that no longer seem helpful, or wanting to figure out what it might look like to be a more healthy, whole, and honest person. Many of us often have a desire for life to look different, but we might not be sure how to get there. I view therapy as a process that can help us discover more about where we've been, who we are becoming, and how we want to live.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists
Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?
Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?
Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?
While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?
The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
