I specialize in working with individuals struggling with eating disorders ( bulimia nervosa, anorexia nervosa, binge- eating disorder).
Considering eating disordered behaviors are not a matter of discipline, but a matter of emotional regulation, it is not surprising. In other words, they are a symptom, the tip of the iceberg. I’d like to help you reach behind the symptom level, resolve blockages and get back in touch with your body and its natural signals.

I’m especially passionate about supporting teenagers and young adults navigating perfectionism, anxiety, eating disorders, and relationship challenges.
Hi, I'm Cait, a private practice therapist in Florida. Many of the clients I work with are high-achieving and incredibly capable and still feel exhausted by the pressure to keep everything together. What often starts as striving and discipline can slowly turn into perfectionism, anxiety, or a difficult relationship with food, exercise, or body image. On the outside, you may appear confident and successful, while internally feeling stuck in patterns that leave you overwhelmed and self-critical. Even when you accomplish something, it may rarely feel like enough, and it can be hard to know how to step out of this cycle.

As a specialist in OCD and eating disorders, with lived experience in both, I use evidence-based modalities to find real, lasting relief.
On the outside it looks like you have it all together, but on the inside you are engaged in a constant struggle for control. Your mind won't stop. Intrusive thoughts loop, contamination fears, health anxiety, or a need for certainty drive you to check, reassure, or repeat things just to feel okay, and the "what ifs" never quiet down. Or maybe it's your body and food that consume you, counting, restricting, bingeing, purging, never feeling thin, good, or in control enough. You try temporary fixes: seeking reassurance, avoiding people and feared situations, over-exercising, or checking your body. But the relief never lasts.

If you're feeling overwhelmed by life's transitions or stuck in old patterns, you don't have to navigate this alone. Together, we can find clarity." If you’re here, there’s a good chance you’re tired of holding everything together on the outside while your body carries the weight on the inside. Maybe you grew up in an environment where chaos, emotional inconsistency, or survival was the norm, and now, despite how capable you appear, you feel anxious, activated, or disconnected from yourself. You might notice patterns repeating in your relationships, emotions that feel too big, or a constant sense of tension that never fully settles.

Pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and motherhood can bring emotional challenges that feel heavier than expected. You may feel overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, disconnected from yourself, or unsure if you’re handling everything the way you “should.” While caring for everyone else, it’s easy to lose sight of your own emotional needs and well-being. I provide a supportive space where women can feel understood, regain balance, strengthen coping skills, and move through pregnancy and motherhood with greater confidence and self-compassion.

How do I choose the best one for me? It can be tough to figure out the counselor for you. You expect a counselor to guide, listen & help you to understand things that are hard for you to understand on your own. Choosing someone during a time when you likely feel fearful & confused makes it harder. I suggest calling a few counselors & asking how they can help you change. See if their way of doing counseling would be good for you. Also you may know other people who have been satisfied with their counseling journey with someone they can recommend. Let's get together and decide what your goals are and how I can help you achieve them!

What happens in therapy for eating disorders?
In therapy for eating disorders, patients typically describe their eating and exercise behaviors, their patterns of eating in relation to stress, their beliefs about their body, the ways their eating behavior affects their relationships, and their desire (or lack of it) to change. Such information helps the therapist understand the origins of the disorder and the role it plays in the patient’s life, important for guiding treatment. Attitudes and feelings about food and eating, body weight, and physical appearance are common topics of discussion throughout treatment.
What therapy types help with eating disorders?
Once any acute medical or psychiatric emergency is resolved, psychoactive medication is often prescribed, requiring the supervision of a psychiatrist. In addition, patients receive some form of nutritional counseling along with one or more forms of psychotherapy. For adolescents, family-based treatment is empirically validated and considered the first line of treatment; parents and their children meet weekly with a clinician as the adults are coached on how to nourish and psychologically support the young patient. Adults typically receive some form of individual psychotherapy, intended to resolve the cognitive and behavioral disturbances that underlie the disorder and to relieve the mood disturbances that accompany it. In addition, patients may also be helped by group therapy.
What is the goal of therapy for eating disorders?
The most immediate goal of treatment for eating disorders is to save the life of people who are on a path of starving themselves to death or engaging in eating patterns that are doing irreparable physical harm to their body. Once the acute medical danger is past, therapy is required to understand the nature of the disordered eating and/or exercise patterns, establish healthy eating behavior, and to tackle the many erroneous beliefs and distorted self-perceptions that underlie eating disorders and continue to pose a threat to health and life. Therapy also addresses the impaired mood that not only accompanies eating disorders but intensifies the danger to health and life.
What are the limitations of therapy for eating disorders?
Therapy can be very helpful for eating disorders—but that can happen only after people recognize they have a condition that must be treated. Especially with anorexia, the distortions in self-image that accompany the disorder can keep people from acknowledging they have a problem. Individuals may in fact see their eating disorder as a badge of self-control. Those with binge-eating disorder may feel too ashamed to seek help. Therapy cannot help those who do not avail themselves of it.
How long does therapy last for eating disorders?
Because of their complexity, recovery from eating disorders is usually a long-term process—measured in months and years— often marked by setbacks and relapse. Some form of help, such as individual or group therapy, may be advisable for much of that time. It is a general rule of thumb that the longer the illness has endured and the dysregulated eating behavior has taken root, the longer treatment is likely to be needed.
