As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Board-Certified Art Therapist, I have experience working with a variety of ages and settings, with a focus on helping these individuals reach their personal goals and reduce distressing symptoms.
The stressors of daily life can be difficult to manage on the best of days, but for those experiencing mental health issues, these stressors can feel insurmountable. Many people I have worked with are struggling with issues such as depression, anxiety, LGBTQ+ issues, identity issues, suicidal thoughts, etc. Many of them struggle with unhealthy coping skills, such as self-harm or other risky behaviors. They are seeking a safe outlet for self-expression, reflection, and creating healthy coping strategies.

I am an art therapist and a provisionally licensed counselor.
My clients are longing for a deep and meaningful change (mixed with some play and laughter). I work with children, teens and adults who are looking to create a therapeutic journey that is both playful and deep. The adult clients I work with find real relief from depression, anxiety and trauma. The young adult and teen clients in my office are often working through identity development, stress management, and accomplishing their goals in life. They younger kiddos in my office are using play and creativity to work through big emotions, tough behaviors and family challenges.

As a Board-Certified Art Therapist, I use structured creative processes to help make internal experiences visible and more understandable.
Many people feel deeply but struggle to organize what’s happening inside. You might understand your patterns intellectually yet still feel stuck emotionally, or find that when someone asks how you feel, the words just don’t come. Others experience anxiety, overwhelm, or identity questions that feel difficult to explain. I work with adults, adolescents, and children who benefit from slowing down and exploring their inner world in a different way. I especially work with those who think in images, stories, or metaphors rather than straightforward explanations.

I can offer a variety of modalities, including EMDR, DBT, CBT, art and experiential therapies.
Life can take us to places we don't want to go, and give us an education for which we did not want to pay. I understand this and can help you navigate life's uncertainties. I have assisted clients learn to love themselves, find the resources they need, and heal from the situations life brings to us. I offer a compassionate and non-judgmental safe place to explore, process, and heal. You might not feel like it, but you are stronger than you know. I will be your biggest cheerleader, your advocate, your support in times of stress. I will also challenge the old ways of thinking and doing things.

Specializing in art therapy and talk therapy, I recognize that sometimes words alone can't capture the depth of one's experiences.
I incorporate a variety of evidence-based modalities such as CBT, Motivational Enhancement, Eco Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy into my practice, tailoring each approach to meet the unique needs of clients. I create a compassionate environment where clients can learn mindfulness, practice self-soothing techniques, and process trauma at their own pace.

My teen clients feel more confident and responsible. My clients who are moms leave with deep self compassion, and reassurance that they are doing enough. Additionally I specialize in trauma and RRT which offers quick trauma healing.

My approach is trauma-informed and holistic, blending art therapy with traditional talk therapy to engage both body and mind.
Our thoughts, emotions, and sensations don’t live only in our minds — they’re felt and expressed through our bodies. When we become disconnected from that inner experience because of stress, trauma, or shame, we can start to feel stuck, lost, or unable to move forward. The weight of the past can quietly shape how we live in the present. I help clients restore their mind-body connection and reconnect with their inner wisdom to foster genuine healing and change.

I have experience in ABA, CBT, art therapy, certified in DBT, and a variety of other therapies based on need and goals.
Creating a safe, nonjudgemental, and empathetic environment is an extremely important part of my practice. Therapy works best when you feel safe enough to be completely honest and say what you need to say without fear of judgment. A strong therapeutic relationship helps you feel as though you are no longer facing your fears alone and we can do this together

Art Therapy Therapists
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
