I utilize different therapeutic dynamics including Trauma -Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused, EMDR, Play, and Art Therapy.
I believe that everyone has the right to live the life they imagine for themselves. Each of us has a right to feel safe, respected, protected and loved. I have been a psychotherapist for the past twenty years. I chose this profession because I wanted to continue to grow and explore life to its fullest in a work environment that generates positivity. I have worked extensively with the HIV/AIDS community, engaged in comprehensive therapy with sexual abuse and trauma clients, along with a focus on work/life balance concerns. I focus on the client’s strengths, and goals, and explore one's thoughts, past experiences, and belief systems.

I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional with years of experience in providing services to hundreds of individuals in the areas of trauma , crisis intervention, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and more.
I believe many adults are living an unfulfilled life due to unprocessed traumatic events that took place in their past. Present hardships may also encourage poor decision making which can result in regrets. Using biblical principles, I help guide individuals during their toughest seasons, and remind them that hope still lives. In addition to adults, I am experienced in helping adolescents cope and process traumatic events through evidence based techniques such as trauma -focused cognitive behavioral therapy. These events may include, but are not limited to rape, abandonment, abuse, divorced parents, and human trafficking.

My specialty is working with individuals who have experienced trauma or are inheritors of intergenerational trauma , such as descendants of Holocaust survivors, slaves, immigrants, and refugees as well as those struggling with identity issues and addiction.
As a trauma -informed (PCTI) therapist, I am heavily influenced by Viktor Frankl, a Nazi Concentration Camp Survivor, psychiatrist, and founder of Logotherapy. Logotherapy is anchored in the belief that a person’s primary motivational force is to find a sense of meaning or purpose in one's life—but the lack thereof, leaves the individual experiencing meaninglessness and may spiral downward into anxiety, depression, substance use, PTSD , and other mental health issues. With 12 years of experience and certifications in various modalities, together, our work will refocus you and your life and invigorate it with purpose and meaning.

My specialties include mood, anxiety, and trauma related disorders, personality and psychotic spectrum disorders, neurodevelopmental/neurocognitive disorders, and grief.
The science and art of clinical psychology provides a unique, personal space for individuals to rely upon when it seems old methods of coping no longer suffice for current day stressors. Based on current, scientific research, a nonjudgmental and compassionate approach, and a natural intuitiveness and empathy, psychotherapy can help others to learn how to access their own, inner wise mind that is capable of tremendous strength and transformation when education, support, and genuine care are provided.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
