My specialties include, gifted/IQ testing, emotional overeating, anxiety, depression, couples/relationship conflict resolution, and eating disorders.
As a licensed clinical psychologist, I recognize that life and relationships can prove to be challenging. I appreciate the courage it takes for one to share personal concerns and strive for life change, therefore I aim to provide a safe and respectful therapeutic environment. I strongly believe in the power of therapy as a means of improving the quality of ones' life through the following: developing greater insight and understanding of ones' concerns, exploring alternative perspectives, reduction of symptoms, adopting alternative coping strategies, improving self esteem, and strengthening communication skills.

I perceive psychotherapy as a process of teamwork, sharing of power, and ensuring that clients have a sense of hope. There is no single way to live one's life and, as a clinician, I respect when my patients believe they are sufficiently on track. I also offer comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations. These evaluations are commonly used to detect dementia, adult ADHD, learning disorders, and is used to support diagnosis such as Alzheimer's disease and Traumatic Brain Injury. At my practice, we offer comprehensive, personalized programs to help you build a stronger future and sustain it.

I seek to help those who feel trapped by life's perils such as anxiety, self-doubt, trauma and addiction. You may have tried traditional treatment approaches without lasting success and are seeking something different. You are looking for a clinician who combines compassion with cutting-edge expertise - someone who won't judge their decisions but will use advanced neuroscience tools to help them. I can help you understand why your mind may sometimes work against your development efforts using innovative, science-based approaches.

Congratulations to YOU! You truly deserve happiness, and by being here, you've already taken an important step toward making positive changes in your life. Life is a journey full of both joy and challenges, no matter who we are or where we’re at. It's through these experiences, the highs and the lows, that we learn how to navigate life with resilience. While I believe everyone is capable of self-love and healing, I also know that sometimes, we all need a little guidance to find our way. I'm here to help you face the challenges you're dealing with today, and I want you to know that I believe in you!

If you have been carrying difficult things from your past, trauma from long ago, or a grief that has become a constant in your life, you are in the right place. Some wounds do not fade with time alone; they wait for a space where they can finally be spoken and understood. I am a bilingual therapist, and counseling can be fully in English or in Spanish. Hablo español, y la terapia puede ser completamente en tu idioma. For 15 years I have walked with clients through trauma, sexual abuse, depression, grief, substance use, relationship struggles, and immigration challenges.

Aging with grace is not always an easy task. There are decisions to be made about retirement, finances, where to live, accessibility, health and family. There are losses of people we love. Our health declines naturally with age and there can be chronic illnesses to cope with. People who are aging may need support in adjusting to changes in physical and mental health if it appears to be interfering with daily life.

Testing and Evaluation Therapists
What is a psychological evaluation?
A psychological evaluation is a test or assessment most commonly administered by a trained psychologist that is intended to be used in the diagnosis of specific psychological conditions, such as ADHD, mood disorders, personality disorders, dementia or Alzheimer's, and learning disabilities. Psychological evaluations can help inform future treatment decisions and help direct clients to professionals and resources that may be most helpful, such as potential therapy options or additional school supports.

Can psychological evaluations be done on individuals of any age group?
Psychological evaluations are conducted on individuals of all ages and can be beneficial to individuals across the lifespan. However, specific types of evaluations may be most frequently conducted on individuals of certain age groups. For instance, ADHD or learning disability testing is often conducted in children ages 4-12--the period of time when ADHD symptoms most commonly emerge. In contrast, cognitive functioning assessments, such as those conducted to diagnose dementia, are most commonly conducted in elderly individuals. Clients should ensure that the psychologist they are seeing has specific expertise in conducting evaluations in their age group to ensure they receive a correct diagnosis.

How long does a psychological evaluation take?
Psychological evaluations vary in length depending on the test being administered and the goals of the evaluation; however, most evaluations are 2-4 hours in length. Some evaluations may take as long as 8 hours but can often be spread across multiple days. In some cases, clients will also attend an intake session or interview, which can help the psychologist assess client functioning outside of the testing environment.

How should I prepare for a psychological test and evaluation?
Individuals do not need to prepare for psychological tests or evaluations in most cases, as they are intended to measure a client's baseline psychological status without test-specific preparation. However, clients may want to brainstorm a list of questions for their psychologist about any tests they are receiving prior to the assessment, including what potential outcomes may mean for what next steps the client should take.
