I believe that the most crucial aspect of therapy is the relationship between the client and the therapist. The therapeutic relationship is part of what helps facilitate change. I help my clients make shifts in their relationships–the relationships they have with themselves, each other, and with their problems. I understand therapy to be a place not to run away from one's problems, but to turn toward them, a place to find ways to connect and to move toward health and wholeness.

I recognize that acknowledging the need for help is sometimes difficult. At times it may seem hopeless or useless to try to change. Very often negative self talk and an invalidating environment gets in the way. I am here to walk with you on your journey toward living your best life.

As a therapist, I seek to empower every being to be their most authentic, healthiest, happiest selves. I assist in the healing journey of growth, change, and evolution through advocacy, coaching, consultation, and self-awareness practices. I often tell my clients, "It’s not selfish to be self-FULL. You can only pour from an overflowing cup of self-love, self-esteem, and self-worth in the journey to self-discovery."

There comes a time when what once worked as a method of coping no longer serves its purpose. Wounding from the past or the present may surface in painful emotions, destructive behaviors or dysfunctional relationships. They may manifest in choices that are not in line with our goals and aspirations, or we may even lose sight of them. The result is more pain and despair. There are choices and options to aide in changing course. It is a difficult process, but so is the current, painful path. To choose healing requires willingness, vulnerability and hard work. The product of that work can be a life filled with peace and authenticity.

Have you struggled to feel safe, seen, and heard with a mental health professional? Have you ever felt not good enough despite your achievements? Or felt like you are an imposter—that you are just fooling people? Ever feel tired and unmotivated but unable to turn off your thoughts? Let me help. Healing outcomes for my clients have included: freeing themselves from their inner critic, increasing their self-trust and confidence, increasing their "response-ability" -- ability to feel and respond (not react) to their life, enlarging their capacity to self-nurture, increasing resilience & discovering passion/meaning in their lives.

As an adult looking for ways to help heal from childhood trauma, you may find yourself wondering how to cope with the pain you've experienced. It seems like you've tried everything, even therapy, but nothing seems to work or at least for only a period of time. It can be daunting to reach out to a counselor because you want to make sure they will be able to assist you in relieving what feels like years of carrying around emotional pain; that has put a drain on self-perceptions and relationships..

Hi there! If you’ve found yourself here after falling down a “therapist research” rabbit hole — welcome, you’re in good company. I work with teens, young adults, and adults who feel stuck somewhere between wanting to have it all figured out and wondering if anyone actually does. My clients are often the ones who overthink, overachieve, and hold themselves to impossibly high standards — the ones who can’t stop analyzing every “what if,” “should,” and “why am I like this?” Whether you’re managing OCD, anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, or just the general chaos of being human,

Our ideal client is not satisfied with the quality of their life. They are in a place of seeking to learn, develop, and grow emotionally and use that as a guide for focusing on living the life of their dreams. It may be that they are experiencing oppression, distressing thoughts, lack of emotion regulation, not able to handle the ups and downs of life or simply want to have a laid-out plan for success. We meet clients where they are and provide guidance to get to where they want to go. At all times we are led by expressed needs and desires of those we serve.

Do you feel weighed down by anxiety or depression, struggling to find clarity, motivation, or peace? Maybe your mind is constantly racing, making it hard to focus or relax. Perhaps emotions feel overwheleming, or at times you feel disconnected and numb. You might notice patterns in your relationships that leave you feeling unsupported or misunderstood. Daily tasks may feel exhausting, and no matter how much you try to push through, the weight of worry or sadness keeps pulling you back. If any of this resonates, know that you are not alone. There is a path forward, and healing is possible.

You might look like you have it all together, yet inside you feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected. Maybe you’re navigating leadership pressures, relationship strain, burnout, or patterns that won’t seem to change. You’re likely self-aware, driven, and tired of dealing with the same internal battles alone. You want clarity, emotional resilience, and a healthier way to move through your life and relationships. Most of all, you’re looking for a space where you can be honest, supported, and pushed toward real, meaningful change.

Life can be dysfunctional and although many of us learn how to function in this dysfunction there are times where it may become too much to walk in alone. Your life seems filled with constant thoughts of "I should have: said that differently, told them how I felt, spoke up for myself". You struggle with fears of judgment and expectations. Somedays it may seem like an impossible mission to get out of bed, shower, feed yourself or socialize with others. You struggle with persistent irrational thoughts that you are aware of but can't seem to make them stop.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Seminole County?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
