I have experience working with children and families in several different settings (in-home, schools, office, foster care) with a variety of issues (anxiety, trauma /abuse, sensory issues, ADHD, school difficulties, behavioral issues, self-esteem issues, anger).
I believe that personal growth is something that occurs when a person is open to thinking or trying things differently. Since taking steps towards change can be difficult, I feel that a certain level of support and encouragement are an important part of this process. I would like to offer my assistance in helping you reach your goals!

I am an MSW student intern working with adolescents and adults to heal the effects of childhood trauma & other adverse childhood experiences. Being raised in abusive, chaotic, or neglectful environments can result in anxiety, depression, panic attacks, physical debilitation, self-esteem issues, relationship/codependency issues, addictions & compulsions, and critical judgment towards oneself and others. I work with a wide diversity of clients, but as a gay man experienced in working with LGBTQ+ individuals, I'm particularly interested in helping others heal from the compounding wounds of homophobia and other social oppression.

As a TF CBT certified specialist, I also work with people (child, teens, adults) who have experienced trauma , and are working to reduce post traumatic symptoms, and shift from feeling like a victim to becoming an empowered survivor.
I work with college students and professional who are struggling with depression, anxiety, or even cases of "over-perfectionism." I tend to work with individuals who on the surface, might look like things are fine, but underneath experience loneliness, dissatisfaction, and a genuine disconnect from the life they lead. I work with those who maybe have been in therapy before, but have not found the right "fit." I provide evidence-based therapies that target symptoms and focus on developing concrete skills to get back in control, help you feel less depressed or anxious, and feeling more connected with you life and those around you!

With over 20 years combined experience as a mental health provider and first responder, I have an exceptional understanding of the way traumatic events shape our minds and bodies. This includes how we perceive every facet of our lives, from work, relationships, and absolutely who we see in the mirror. My clinical experience includes work in the nonprofit and private sector with individuals, and groups, helping people heal from abuse, stress, anxiety, addictions, and trauma . Additionally, I have spent over 15 years working in the criminal justice system, as a law enforcement officer and first responder training coordinator.

I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults struggling with depression anxiety, trauma , relationship issues, communication issues, self-esteem and life transitions.
Choosing a counselor is a profoundly personal choice and can be confusing and scary, especially for people seeking it out for the first time. I approach my clients with understanding, empathy, and support to create a collaborative environment of emotional and psychological safety in which my clients feel comfortable and secure. It is through the trust built in that relationship that the door to healing opens.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
