My approach is eclectic utilizing mindfulness based technique, psychodynamic theory, and somatic therapies.
My intention in therapy is to provide you a safe space where you may gain insight and face challenges with greater ease and confidence. I help individuals who wish to move through shame, grief/loss, low self-esteem, relational conflict, anxiety, depression, or trauma. I see the therapeutic relationship as an active process where change can occur. Through this process, I have watched others build self support, identify unhelpful patterns, and connect more fully in their relationships. I offer you a chance to practice the change you seek in a safe supported space.

My modalities include, but are not limited to EMDR, ART, psychodynamic approach, and mindfulness.
I offer a practical approach to provide support and guidance to clients. Whether it is urgent life stressors, relationship challenges, family issues, or trauma there is always a way to shine some light. While a large part of my practice is working with clients using talk therapy, I am also a trauma expert trained in EMDR as well as ART. These techniques allow me to help clients become unstuck from habitual reactive states that often create havoc in relationships and other important areas of life.

My original clinical training, focused primarily on psychodynamic and attachment theory.
People enter my therapy practice for all sorts of reasons. You may be at an impasse or a crossroads due to the loss of a relationship, a big life decision or general anxiety that you can no longer bear on your own. You may be suffering from the wounds of homophobia, transphobia, racism, white supremacy and patriarchy, on top of other traumas and early childhood wounds. Regardless, I seek to offer a safe space for you to access a deeper understanding of yourself and your underlying needs and motives, as well as a personal sense of freedom and empowerment.

My approach to therapy is integrative, encompassing psychodynamic , relational, CBT, and humanistic.
Choosing a counselor is a profoundly personal choice and can be confusing and scary, especially for people seeking it out for the first time. I approach my clients with understanding, empathy, and support to create a collaborative environment of emotional and psychological safety in which my clients feel comfortable and secure. It is through the trust built in that relationship that the door to healing opens.

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Registered Yoga Teacher, and Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher experienced in working with diverse populations of various ages, cultures, and backgrounds. I utilize a holistic approach that incorporates mindfulness, yoga therapy, and tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy in some way, and we shouldn't wait until things become unmanageable to get support. I believe that the most effective approach to therapy is a combination of processing and skill-building.

My clients also benefit from therapies such as cognitive and dialectical behavior, as well as psychodynamic and emotionally focused therapies using attachment theory and energy.
Your relationship with family, friends, work and, of course, yourself is of the most importance. I believe there is no good reason for you to be alone with grief, insecurity, low self-esteem, shame, loneliness, fear, worry, and anxiety. Reaching-out for help could be the most courageous gift you could give yourself. I would be honored to help you through these struggles. I would like to give you the very best individual psychotherapy. I do not offer a "band aid" approach to therapy, meaning, the process to feeling better is one that requires a confidential, authentic, and meaningful relationship with me.

My specialty is helping clients notice old patterns that keep them stuck. Once we accept and understand our experience, then we can work towards change. Most people may not realize the root cause of their constant worry, panic or sadness, that's why I'm here to help so we can both discover what's holding you back from feeling healthy. CBT, mindfulness, EMDR and psychodynamic therapy are approaches that can help us become aware of areas that keep us stuck. Healing our hurts opens us to new ways of thinking and responding to life, inviting us to notice possibilities rather than limitations. Allow me to guide you through this process!

Anxiety, depression, mood disorder, overthinking, racing thoughts, relationship problems, anger problems, performance issues, difficulty managing daily tasks, and so much more......... The majority of these problems begin with how we manage our thoughts. The brain does not function like any other organ in your body. You control the majority of it's functioning. You control your thoughts and your thoughts lead to your behaviors. I know that it is not as simple as that, but with some help and guidance, you will discover your own potential and that is what THERAPY is!

When life gives you challenges the process of managing those challenges can be real difficult. Having someone to process and find solutions to real life issues can be helpful and supportive. I have a very well rounded background in both adult and child therapy. I have worked with Oncology clients, clients in crisis, couples, families and children with different emotional needs. When I meet a client it is important to meet them where they are and develop a strong therapeutic relationship.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
