For the past 20 years I've worked extensively with all mental health concerns affecting youth, adults,
couples
and families.
Your past trauma and pain does not define you. However, in order to heal and grow you must honor where you've been. Let me be your guide through this process so together we can illuminate areas you've been avoiding. First we will focus on building a safe and unconditional space where you can be yourself. Once rapport is built and trust established, we will collaborate and explore your internal world. You will gain new insights which will empower you to identify what you really want.

My experience has help guide my approach to focus on a strong
relationship
and provide an authentic experience in a non-judgmental environment.
All of us experience loss and changes sometime in our lives. We try our best to move forward but many times we get stuck and can't see how we have been impacted. That can leave us feeling hurt, alone, and scared, and may at times even lead to a mental health disorder. I think many of us during these times are looking for a guide that can see them authentically and help them heal.

Life events may impact our sense of order and peace and replace peace with confusion. Your commitment to regain a sense of order can be the beginning and you may be surprised to learn that it may not take as long as you think. I know that
relationship
issues, career challenges, job losses, and health challenges can upset our sense of order and balance. These are some of the focus areas of my counseling and coaching practice. I suggest you interview several candidates. Let your feelings of comfort, acceptance and competence guide your decision.

with yourself or others? Are you feeling stuck or confused? Are you ready for a change? Whether it's a

with self, family, intimate, business, or friend; we can work together to identify the barriers that may be prohibiting your goals. Many of us find ourselves repeating the same unhealthy

I am an MSW student intern working with adolescents and adults to heal the effects of childhood trauma & other adverse childhood experiences. Being raised in abusive, chaotic, or neglectful environments can result in anxiety, depression, panic attacks, physical debilitation, self-esteem issues,
relationship
/codependency issues, addictions & compulsions, and critical judgment towards oneself and others. I work with a wide diversity of clients, but as a gay man experienced in working with LGBTQ+ individuals, I'm particularly interested in helping others heal from the compounding wounds of homophobia and other social oppression.

My goal as your therapist is to build an authentic
relationship
that is trusting, caring, and accepting so that you can learn to trust, care for, and accept your authentic self.
Does your inner-critic scream when you make a mistake? Do people seem to like you more than you like yourself? Maybe you just feel lost, wanting things to be different even though you don't know exactly what that means. That’s okay. Life can be challenging, but challenging is not impossible. Sometimes, we just need some support. I would like to offer you my support in a space where you can feel free to be who you are, free from the pressure of who you're supposed to be, and free to discover what's important to you. Let's work together to identify the changes you want to make in life so you can work on making them.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
