Hope. Counseling is a step of hope. A step toward healing. We all need help in dealing with the struggles that keep us stuck –anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, discouragement, confusion, past traumas, self-defeating behaviors, and more. In our work together, clients will learn and benefit from an integrated approach. Solution focused. Developing the skills to meet your most immediate needs. Family systems. Understanding the impacts of your family of origin and healing from them. Emotion focused. Uncovering, understanding, and effectively managing the emotions that subconsciously drive your choices and behaviors–often negatively.

“It it not the water around the ship that sinks the ship, it is the water inside the ship that sinks the ship.” Using this metaphor, I effectively help my clients figure out what exactly is “sinking their ship” and provide techniques and strategies to right their ship and put it in seaworthy condition. Specifically, I help my clients manage anxiety and depression, relationship issues, alcohol abuse, lack of self-confidence and self-esteem, and life adjustments.

We will draw on your strengths and choose the direction you want to take in resolving personal, career and relationship challenges. If you are reading this you have already taken the first step on a courageous journey & I am proud of you. NO, you are not "too broken", "too damaged", "too f***ed up." Up until this point you have done the best you could with what you knew to do. It's time to stop punishing yourself for how you survived. If you need someone to believe in you & make you feel less alone in the world, you have found the right person. If you find yourself asking "what do I do now?" regarding healing, I am happy to help you find the way. It's never too late for you to make your future look completely different than your past. You are not unworthy.

Our lived experiences often shape our meaning and understanding of our world and sometimes those experinces bring us internal and relational difficulties. Clouding us from knowing our own skills and confidence to lead our most fulfilling life with a sense of empowerment and authenticity. I believe neither our circumstances or experiences define who we are and when our stories no longer match our sense of self we can feel a multitude of emotions and unsure of where to turn for support. Developing a space to feel heard, seen and supported is where others can find the strength to re-create their lives.

You wouldn't think that finding the right counselor could be this difficult! It's important to find a the right match and feel comfortable with your therapist. Clients often describe me as someone who is "easy to talk to", has a great sense of humor, is "down to earth" and genuine. I recognize the importance of creating a safe space and welcome the opportunity to get to know you. Together, we'll identify the problems in your life and find the right solutions.

Self Esteem Therapists
Self-esteem lives on a spectrum: Not enough self-regard (or low self esteem) can lead people to become depressed, or to tolerate abusive situations and relationships. Too much self-love (or high self-esteem), results in an off-putting sense of entitlement and an inability to learn from failure. And it's occasionally a sign of clinical narcissism. Quite the opposite of being shy or shyness, yet still on the same spectrum.
