couples
therapist skilled in treating
relationship
conflict, infidelity, sexual issues, trauma, military stress, life transitions, and anxiety, amongst other issues.
Connection is hard. It requires a level of vulnerability that opens us up to the very pain we’ve been trying to avoid. The thing about connection though, is that it is vital to every person’s emotional, sexual, and mental well-being. We can’t understand ourselves or feel close to others without it. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Sex Therapist, I offer a safe, honest, and affirming environment where you can feel comfortable exploring whatever holds you back from connecting with yourself and others. With you in the driver's seat, I can help you move towards a more fulfilling and integrated life.

When you start to notice that you aren't feeling well or your mental health isn't where you would like for it to be, it can be hard to figure out which direction to go in or what will help. It can feel overwhelming to share your story with someone new and to dig further into the things that you may be avoiding. It can help to work with a therapist that considers these feelings and works with you at a comfortable pace. My approach is to focus on the quality of the
relationship
I have with my clients in a positive and conversational way while also taking the time to understand their experiences and perspective.

I will be honored to work with you, to listen and provide insight while earning your trust throughout the process to strengthen and create a working
relationship
that promotes healing.
I am so glad you are here! I work from a person-centered approach to assist my client in finding their desire to break down the challenges that need to be addressed and to empower each and every person to find their courage to believe in their worth and, their strength. This means our work together will be conversation based. There are techniques and approaches that won’t feel like you are being put under a microscope, but hopefully validated and heard. My goal is to help others think outside the typical, to be creative and see things and obstacles from a different perspective.

Anxiety can be crippling, depression debilitating, struggling with your
partner
painful and lonely, being a teenager or the parent of a teenager overwhelming, and struggling living out your spiritual belief and values confusing.
Life is hard. We all, everyone of us, need help along the way. Perhaps you need help understanding and managing your emotions; overcoming anxiety or depression; building and maintaining healthy boundaries and relationships; healing from past hurts or traumas; dealing with feelings of inadequacy, shame or rejection; forgiving yourself and others. Perhaps you are a parent in need of help understanding and supporting a struggling child; communicating with your teenager or young adult; learning and using skills and tools to navigate these relationships.

Hi there, I'm Hayne. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor providing both in-person and Telehealth sessions. For 20 years, I've loved working with every angle of the family. If you looked at my schedule on any given day, you'd probably see a few married
couples
, some exhausted and burnt-out parents, a college student, a 4th-12th grader, someone having an affair, someone who has been crushed by a loss or a person who is wrestling through their attraction to the same gender. I often find that a person's willingness to come in and simply talk about things creates at least 50% of the change they are looking for.

I specialize in relationships, eating disorders,
couples counseling
, anxiety disorders and solution focused therapy.
I feel it is a privilege to be invited into someone's life journey and I always intend to treat people with respect and compassion. I feel I am gifted with an ability to understand people, due to experience and being fully present and focused. Our sessions move quickly and dynamically, with an emphasis on insight and then transformational goals. To reach wholeness and happiness, we need to consider the mind, body and spirit. Health and wellness, as well as a client's belief system are especially intriguing to me: " If you argue for your limitations, you get to keep them"

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
