I help people process their thoughts & feelings, overcome anxiety or depressive thoughts (including suicide) and help process trauma thru EMDR therapy.
You know that everyone worries, everyone has stress…but how much is too much? Ultimately, you decide what you can handle, but overwhelming worry doesn’t have to be part of your daily life. If you feel “stressed out,” have friends tell you that you’re a “worrier,” or you have fears that are ruining your ability to experience a moment’s rest….therapy can help. I invite you to call me for a free no-strings-attached 15-min phone consult so you can ask questions and get to know me before you decide.

I specialize in treating older adolescents and adults with anxiety , depression, mood disorders, low self-esteem, communication issues, social skills, and symptoms related to trauma.
When you start to notice that you aren't feeling well or your mental health isn't where you would like for it to be, it can be hard to figure out which direction to go in or what will help. It can feel overwhelming to share your story with someone new and to dig further into the things that you may be avoiding. It can help to work with a therapist that considers these feelings and works with you at a comfortable pace. My approach is to focus on the quality of the relationship I have with my clients in a positive and conversational way while also taking the time to understand their experiences and perspective.

You do not need to live with depression and anxiety ! They are treatable!! I specialize in high profile cases and first responders. I am a certified trauma specialist. I use real life examples to help you move forward. My favorite day at work is when a client tells me "I feel great!" It is up to the two of us to get you better and not keep you stuck. Over the years I've had many clients tell me "you're the first counselor I've ever had that I don't feel like I need to edit myself in front of" I'm honored that so many people are so comfortable with me.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
