Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists in Quincy, FL
I have about 15 years experience providing CBT, DBT, Brief therapy, Solution Focused, and Play therapy.
Like the lotus flower, we often begin in murky waters—navigating pain, uncertainty, trauma, loss, or life transitions that feel overwhelming. Yet the lotus does not bloom in spite of the mud; it blooms because of it. Its roots anchor deeply in the darkness before rising steadily toward the light. I believe the same is true for people. The challenges you face, do not define you. They are part of your soil. With the right support, insight, and tools, those experiences can become the foundation for resilience. As a licensed mental health provider, I view each client as capable of profound transformation.

My ideal clients are children and adults struggling with emotional regulation, anxiety, or family changes, and adults overwhelmed by anxiety, work–life balance, or relationship stress. They need a safe, supportive space to express themselves and learn effective coping skills. Their goals often include improving communication, reducing anxiety, strengthening family dynamics, and building confidence. Ultimately, they want to feel understood, more in control of their emotions, and capable of creating healthier patterns in their daily lives and relationships.

I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families. I try to offer affordable mental health counseling, because I believe that therapy should be accessible to all who need it. I also offer art therapy, play therapy, and life coaching. I want to help you to feel better--and help you to achieve the goals that matter to you. If you want, you can try a phone or online session (so you can do therapy from the comfort of home). I really look forward to working with you. At times, therapy takes effort, but it's rewarding to see the results!

I find using both top-down treatments (such as CBT & DBT) along with bottom-up approaches (like EMDR, IFS, & Gestalt) provide a more holistic form of healing in trauma work.
Life in itself is challenging; let me help you learn how to face these moments with strength and love. As humans, we tend to struggle with how to handle adversity and often forget our own resiliency and ability to adapt. I have 12 years of experience working with individuals and families and groups in a variety of settings, with certifications in trauma-informed care, and dialectical behavioral therapy ( DBT).
Caring for others while trying to care for yourself can be one of the toughest challenges. If you are caring for a parent, spouse, child, or other loved one with medical conditions and complex needs, you may feel isolated, exhausted, overwhelmed, and unappreciated. You may even have your own health issues to manage on top of it all. Finding time for yourself is essential, but often seems impossible. Others may have unrealistic expectations and judgments they put on you. Endless medical appointments and things to remember can leave you feeling depleted at the end of the day.

Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.
Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.
What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
