You're having a hard time. I get it, I understand. And you're going to feel a little better just by taking a next step and reaching out, grabbing hold of a better tomorrow. Grief, trauma, anxiety, adjustment issues and the like can all be handled with awareness, kindness, and even a bit of humor.

I believe that when a patient comes to see a therapist, they often ask these questions. "Will I feel safe, will I be heard without judgment and can this unknown person be trusted?" The therapeutic relationship is the most profound, protected, and valuable asset created between the psychologist and the patient. I am in awe of my patients courage and their ability to trust, so that the issues grappled with can be explored and understood, and that ultimately they can begin to heal and grow in ways that are both needed and desired.

My ideal clients value honesty, responsibility, respect, and personal growth. They are self-motivated and ready to make lasting changes in their lives for their own benefit. They understand that counseling is a process - a journey - and that they will get out of it what they put into it. They understand that it may be uncomfortable at times, and that things may temporarily get worse before they get better, but they understand the need to stay committed to their own healing and recovery because by doing so, they will find freedom from bondage. You try so hard. You try harder than anyone you know and yet, something still feels harder than it should. You're successful on paper but you're burning out and CBT hasn't helped shake that never enough feeling. Most people would have no idea how lonely and overwhelmed you feel inside and how hard it feels to get through the day. Or maybe its food and your body that torture you. You want peace, but you feel addicted to checking your body in shiny surfaces (even though you're always disappointed by what you find) and your stomach still lurches when you see an unexpected photo of yourself. Let's get your life back on track.

Entering into therapy is a big step, and I feel that an important aspect of helping you to comfortably make this step is providing a safe and supportive therapeutic environment. People begin counseling because they want something to shift or change in their lives. I facilitate positive change by encouraging exploration, processing relevant issues with you, and helping you to identify healthy and unhealthy coping mechanisms in your life with the purpose of changing those that are not adaptive.

If you have ADHD and/or autism and have been dealing with anxiety, depression, executive dysfunction, low self-esteem, or burnout, know that you are not alone. As a neurodivergent myself, I understand firsthand what it's like to navigate a world that wasn't designed for brains like ours.
Perhaps you got diagnosed as an adult, and while part of you feels relief, there's also confusion, as you begin to understand how years of masking and coping have shaped your experiences and relationships.

You’re successful on paper, but at home it’s war: distance, fights, or silence after betrayal. You want the truth, a path forward, and to stop feeling like you’re living with a roommate or an enemy. You may be trying to recover after an affair, repeated flirting/DMs, porn use, addiction, or a relapse that shattered trust. What you need is structure, accountability, a trusted guide, and tools that work in real life not endless battles. Your goal is a stable, respectful partnership with clear boundaries, repaired intimacy, and a plan you can follow.

You may be the one who looks “high functioning” on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally exhausted inside. Perhaps you’re navigating a major life transition, carrying unresolved trauma, or feeling stuck in patterns of anxiety or depression that no longer make sense—but won’t let go. You want relief, clarity, and stability. More than anything, you want to feel safe in your own body and confident in your ability to move forward, rather than constantly bracing for what’s next.

LGBTQ+ Therapists
Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?
Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.
Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.
How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?
Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.
Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?
While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
