Do you ever feel invisible, as though the real you isn’t fully seen or understood by others? Maybe you’ve carried the pain of being misunderstood by family, friends, or society. I know how heavy it can feel when the people who should accept you don’t. While an autism diagnosis can provide clarity, it’s only part of the story. The deeper work is healing from the rejection, self-doubt, and emotional scars that come from years of not being seen for who you truly are.

Life can take us to places we don't want to go, and give us an education for which we did not want to pay. I understand this and can help you navigate life's uncertainties. I have assisted clients learn to love themselves, find the resources they need, and heal from the situations life brings to us. I offer a compassionate and non-judgmental safe place to explore, process, and heal. You might not feel like it, but you are stronger than you know. I will be your biggest cheerleader, your advocate, your support in times of stress. I will also challenge the old ways of thinking and doing things.

I believe that every person can find solutions to their problems and feel a renewed sense of joy and meaning in their lives. I use many approaches that are tailored to your individual symptoms, needs, and goals. However, the goal is always to improve your life in the here and now, to build the life you want. We offer individual mental health counseling to children, adolescents, grown ups, and families. Children can often times be difficult for adults to understand. Even those children who act like "little grownups" need help communicating their needs and feelings in a developmentally appropriate way. At times we have to uncover those challenging feelings through play. When facing difficulties, the entire family system can be impacted. I believe people are so resilient and have the inherent capability to work towards healing and growth when provided with a safe and supportive space.

I received my master's and specialist's degrees from the University of Florida. I am trained in trauma-based approaches to care, DBT, and EMDR. I want my clients to know that I operate from a wellness model. For me, that means seeing our symptoms and behaviors as normal responses to abnormal circumstances. Life happens and we cope the best we can with what we have. In our work, we can discover ways of surviving that were necessary in the past are no longer serving us in the present.

Welcome to my practice! I work best with individuals who are ready to better understand themselves, even if they’re not sure where to start. Many of my clients feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected—whether from anxiety, past experiences, relationship challenges, or patterns they can’t seem to break. My clients are often thoughtful and self-aware, but may feel caught in cycles that no longer serve them. They’re looking for more than just coping—they want meaningful, lasting change, and a stronger sense of self. Together, we focus on building insight, developing practical tools, and creating a more authentic way of living.

Chronic Illness Therapists
How does therapy for chronic illness work?
Many people living with a chronic illness may feel they cannot speak honestly about their experience out of embarrassment or fear of being a burden, or because those close to them do not understand, for example, that they may “look good” even if they do not feel good. Therapy sessions are an opportunity to speak openly with someone who knows their symptoms are not in their head and who can offer practical, proven suggestions for managing feelings of grief, shame, or fatigue, such as techniques to challenge unhelpful thoughts about symptoms and develop new ways to respond to them, such as distraction or calming breathing practices.

Can therapy help with physical symptoms of chronic illness?
Yes, especially if an individual with chronic illness has developed depression. People with depression are less likely to maintain their health treatment regimens or to take positive steps to manage physical symptoms when they arise, thereby potentially complicating their medical prognosis. Treatment of depression, through talk therapy, medication, or both, will often improve one’s physical state as it eases the emotional burden of illness.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic illness?
No one living with a chronic illness, or their loved ones, should see depression as an unavoidable result of their condition. Instead, they should actively seek treatment. Research shows that people with depression are less likely to devote the required time and effort to maintaining or monitoring their health, and so therapy to limit the risk of depression can be vital for physical health as well. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based stress reduction have been found to help individuals reduce stress and anxiety.

How long does therapy for chronic illness take?
There is no set timeline for therapy for people living with chronic illnesses, but many will see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 weekly sessions. Some people feel that they experience progress faster than others but even some who quickly feel improvement may continue with sessions for months or years. Some people may benefit from maintenance therapy if their symptoms change or they experience a decline in physical health. Others find that the skills learned in short-term therapy can be used on an ongoing basis, even after therapy has concluded.
