My ideal client is an adult or older adult navigating grief, aging, anxiety, trauma, or caregiving. They feel stretched by change and want a steady space to think clearly, process loss or trauma, and learn practical skills. Their goals are calmer days, better sleep, and more connected relationships. I also offer EMDR for trauma and distressing memories when that approach fits their values, energy, and season of life. You are most welcome to call or email with any questions. Our office coordinator here at Collective Living Counseling Services, LLC may be able to help with most, but available for a consultation call as needed.

Initial sessions will feature somatic awareness, self-regulation, and cultivating a blue print for treatment planning together.
You might be feeling emotionally overwhelmed, exhausted, or stuck in patterns that feel difficult to change. Anxiety, depression, stress, or painful experiences can make it hard to feel grounded or connected to yourself. When everything feels heavy, it’s easy to feel alone in what you’re carrying. You don’t have to do this alone. I provide a supportive space where you can process openly, better understand your experiences, and begin moving toward greater clarity, confidence, and emotional balance.

You're managing a lot, and somewhere along the way you stopped feeling like yourself. Whether you're an anxious adult, a parent stretched thin, a first responder carrying more than most people realize, or someone navigating divorce or a relationship falling apart, therapy gives you a place to finally put it down and figure out what comes next. I know this terrain personally, have navigated many of these same challenges myself, and found my way through. I work with individuals, couples, and families who are ready to stop just coping and start making real progress.

Within my holistic approach, I utilize evidenced-based somatic and mindfulness practices and trauma-focused techniques including EMDR and components of play and expressive arts therapies to enhance the mind-body connection and cultivate self-awareness, empowerment, and healing.
I am passionate about working with those who feel as if they'll never break free from their past. Those who struggle with and can't seem to escape the same patterns, thoughts, and feelings. Maybe you logically -know- something wasn't your fault, but it still -feels- like it was, or you're tired of not feeling "good enough". I take special care in gently creating a safe space where you can be your authentic self, while honoring your unique journey. I have specialized training and experience working with those impacted by trauma, and guiding them towards healing.

Have a sense that parts of you are pulling in different directions — one overworking, another shutting down, one sabotaging your efforts, and another trying to hold it all together? Feelings of overwhelm, helplessness, overthinking, overreacting, or ongoing relationship strain often point to an internal conflict or disconnect. Trauma, whether recent or long past, can fragment our inner system and keep the nervous system stuck in survival mode. When that happens, we lose access to calm, confidence, and connection — with ourselves, others and even Spirit.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
