When the relationship is unhealthy, it can spread to our work-life,
family
-life, spiritual-life, and beyond.
I am currently taking new individuals and couples and this can be your first step to healthy! The ability to create meaningful relationships in our lives is one of the most important skills anyone can possess, yet so often, we find ourselves struggling to connect deeply because of our past or present experiences. It brings me joy every time I see an individual or couple work through those issues to connect, heal, and move forward in a more satisfying relationship.

My goals in practicing psychology are to help you narrow your focus, set strong goals, and deal more practically with life’s barriers. This can be an intimidating process, which is why I use humor - with a dash of hope - as essential tools. I am skilled in individual and
family
interventions, executive and consultative coaching, and therapeutic strategies including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution focused therapies. My experience in medical and rehabilitation settings, including private and veterans hospitals, helped me hone these skills for work with clients from all walks of life.

*CSAT-Candidate. Sex addiction can have a truly negative impact on your
family
, your career, your relationships, and your health. Discovering that your partner has an addiction or is heavily involved in porn can be devastating to your relationship. You may feel alone and ashamed about your partner's behavior and have the urge to try to control how he acts. Although sexuality composes a large part of our lives, talking about it isn't always easy. When problems arise, it is even more difficult to discuss. Anger is a normal, healthy human emotion. However, left uncontrolled, it has the power to damage your body and your relationships.

counseling.
I have enjoyed doing support counseling for over 20 years now. We all face moments of distress and experience unplanned circumstances in our lives that we simply are not prepared for. It can be difficult to navigate our way through all of the thoughts that may come up or the different levels of pain we tend to experience. I know that reaching out for help can be challenging. We all have our own healing journeys and I am grateful to be able to help individuals with discovering their own path to healing, growth and change.

I am passionate about people, relationships, and
family
wellness.
I am a passionate, innovative psychotherapist. It will be my privilege to walk with you (individuals, families, and couples) on your journey when life becomes difficult. Sometimes we encounter challenges that may be overwhelming, and extremely painful to bare alone such as depression, anxiety, loss, grief, or abandonment. At other times, things may be well, but we could still benefit from having that advocate who cares and can listen, grasp a problem, assess the issues, and assist you with a plan to move forward with your life.

I use a variety of interventions that are attachment based, trauma responsive and incorporate a Wraparound model to ensure that every child and
family
has a space to process their trauma, develop trusting relationships, learn self-regulation skills, and learn how to utilize the support systems available to them.
As a TBRI Practitioner and Social Worker, I have a background in working with a variety of diagnoses and in a variety of environments. Some of these diagnoses include ODD, PTSD, ADHD, Depression, and Anxiety. My current practice focuses on helping families who have been adversely affected by the child welfare system. This can include removal and reunification, foster care, and adoption. Even If you have not spent time in with child welfare, I will work with you to identify your needs, strengths, and supports to create a plan towards healing.

This sparked my interest in helping individuals with relationship issues,
family
of origin discord, self-esteem concerns, anxiety, depression, and trauma.
I specialize in relationships of all types (parental, sibling, romantic relationship, collegial, etc.). If you find yourself struggling with unhealthy relationship patterns, isolation, social withdrawal, or low self-esteem, you may benefit from participating in therapy. Quite often, symptoms of depression and anxiety can be traced to interpersonal conflict or difficulty connecting with others. I enjoy leading people through the process of self-discovery to assist them in making sense of their life experiences. This often leads people to gain a greater understanding of themselves and the ways in which they relate to others.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
