The combination of ACT and EMDR offers a successful pathway for treatment.
My path to becoming a therapist was more of a calling than a career decision. I’m not particularly suited to this profession. I’m introverted, which causes me to present as somewhat unfriendly and aloof to strangers. I’m really not concerned with small talk or what I consider the superficialities of life. But when it comes to exploring the deepest, most difficult and painful core aspects of your life that’s the space where I feel most comfortable. The foundation of my practice is my own personal journey in 12-step recovery. I would say I was "chosen" for the gift of recovery from a self-destructive lifestyle more than 32 years ago.

I use process-oriented, somatically focused EMDR (a trauma treatment) to help my client's nervous system heal and then respond differently (less reactively) to life and old triggers.
Have a feeling there is a disconnect in your life? Experiences such as overwhelm, helplessness, over-thinking things, over-reacting in situations, relationship strain, mentally beating yourself up, or physical symptoms like recurrent headaches, stomachaches, or a rundown immune system are often signs that we are cut off from our highest self, the healthiest version of ourself. Trauma, in its many forms, can do this to us. It can hijack our nervous system so we respond to life in ways that do not support mental or physical wellbeing for us or our relationships. I want to help you heal and take back control of your life.

EMDR therapy is based on a model which suggests that our wellbeing depends on how we view our past and present life experiences.
I am passionate about helping people of all ages get past their past, and into living a life that is meaningful and fulfilling in the present. If you are struggling to cope with relationship difficulties, life transitions, grief and loss, or any overwhelming experience, whether past or present, I can help you navigate a path through the challenges you are facing. Our relationship in therapy provides a workspace in which you and I can partner to address ineffective behaviors and habits, explore difficult thoughts and feelings, and find some clarity about beliefs regarding yourself and your future.

I am trained in IFS and EMDR , gold-standards for trauma treatment.
You can have a life that is not defined by anxiety, depression, shame, or loneliness. You can be brave and confident. You can value your own needs as much as you value others'. You can heal from growing up with emotionally-immature parents, sexual abuse, trauma, and shame. My job is to guide you there. I love helping clients find their voice and increase their self-confidence. I help you identify the factors underlying your anxiety, trauma, and depression so you're not just trying to cope with them anymore, but can have more of the life you want.

“Awareness is all about restoring your freedom to choose what you want instead of what your past imposes on you.” Deepak Chopra. Choosing a therapist is probably the most important part of your therapy experience as research indicates the client-therapist relationship creates the environment and foundation for change to be possible.

Sometimes you need a little help; help with your hurts, habits, hang-ups. Maybe you're dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, or the aftermath of trauma. You might be overwhelmed by the thought of starting over after a divorce. That can be hard to do alone. So, instead of getting discouraged, you can take the first step towards healing by reaching out for help. I want to help you get where you want to go and navigate your journey from feeling stuck to feeling free.

Life can be difficult. The experiences we encounter can shape and mold us unto someone we may no longer recognize, understand misplaced feelings or have an impact on our daily functioning, but we continue to press... We have people relying on us, responsibilities waiting on us while fears and pain hunt us....but we continue to press....We think the feelings, flashbacks, nightmares, anger, hurt or pain will go away not realizing it is trauma. Trauma is simply an event which causes extreme distress and can manifest in different ways for different people. Lets work together to live a healthy life healed from the effects of trauma.

As an EMDR Certified Therapist, Consultant, and Trainer and NeuroFeedback practitioner, I often recommend combining these Mind/Brain approaches as top down/bottom interventions powerfully impacting a range of symptoms and issues from Anxiety and Depression to PTSD, Nightmares and other Sleep issues, and issues of memory/focus and attention and beyond.
Some people have waited a long time and have dealt with something difficult, even becoming accustomed to discomfort or a painful experience before seeking help. Others may desire increased satisfaction in life and are seeking understanding and a greater sense of wellbeing. Whether you have a clear need in seeking counseling, such as a crisis, traumatic experience, or significant life change or a more subtle sense of wanting greater fulfillment and life satisfaction, the counseling process can be helpful in personal understanding, healing and change, creating the potential for improving how we relate to life, ourselves and others.

I am trained in EMDR and able to offer other trauma-based interventions as needed.
I have enjoyed doing support counseling for over 15 years now. We all face moments of distress and experience unplanned circumstances in our lives that we simply are not prepared for. It can be difficult to navigate our way through all of the thoughts that may come up or the different levels of pain we tend to experience. I know that reaching out for help can be challenging. We all have our own healing journeys and I am grateful to be able to help individuals with discovering their own path to healing, growth and change.

EMDR Therapists
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an information processing therapy that helps clients cope with trauma, addictions, and phobias. During this treatment, the patient focuses on a specific thought, image, emotion, or sensation while simultaneously watching the therapist's finger or baton move in front of his or her eyes. The client is told to recognize what comes up for him/her when thinking of an image; then the client is told to let it go while doing bilateral stimulation.
