Relationships are perhaps one of the most important parts of life.
Therapy can offer a great way to improve our relationship with self, as well as with others. I work with clients to challenge and resolve these issues in many situations. Some of these include struggles with Parenting, ADHD, intimate relationships, family challenges, students with behavioral issues, personal challenges, anxiety and depression.

Gender identity, sexuality, trauma and intimacy are deeply personal and often complicated parts of the human experience. Whether you're navigating challenges related to identity, desire, connection, or sexual trauma, our work together can help you feel ready to face this chapter of your life—with gentleness, without shame. So often, sexual issues are rooted in deeper emotional wounds or a disconnection from self or others. Together, we can begin to unpack those layers, working at a pace that feels right for you, to foster healing, self-trust, and a more empowered sense of intimacy.

The majority of my experience over the last 16 years has been with couples and individuals, and this is where I find myself to be most successful and happen to find the most enjoyment.
I believe in relationships. Relationships are essential to our everyday lives, and when we have unhealthy relationships we begin to see it affect other areas of our lives. This is why I believe in helping people create positive, healthy relationships, and that includes a healthy relationship with yourself.

If you are struggling to cope with relationship difficulties, life transitions, grief and loss, or any overwhelming experience, whether past or present, I can help you navigate a path through the challenges you are facing.
EMDR therapy is based on a model that tells us that our wellbeing depends on how we have been able to process our past life experiences. Research demonstrates that brains are actually rewired during EMDR therapy, with a lasting improvement in a person's perspective on past, present and future life experiences. You may find that EMDR therapy can help you.

I have specialized in working with Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum Disorders since the late 1990's and have worked with hundreds of patients, trained other professionals all over the US, and published a range of books on optimal OCD treatment ("The OCD Meditation Book"; "The ERP Cure"). OCD is the result of miscalibrated circuitry in the brain that should be looking for danger, but for those of us with OCD is looking for perfection which it can never find. Having OCD myself I will be able to more quickly understand the way your OCD works and develop a specially tailored plan to get your brain working better.

I primarily see adult women with trauma and couples in need of support!
My knowledge and training in Sandtray and EMDR is rare in Pensacola, Fl. I'm passionate about learning and bringing that knowledge to my clients. Using these techniques and more, most of my clients are able to gain deep insight for relief to trauma symptoms such as anxiety, triggers and depression much more quickly than traditional talk therapy provides.

As a therapist, I specialize in helping individuals navigate the complexities of trauma, ADHD, anxiety, depression, relationships, and anger.
I use ACT, CBT, DBT, and Reality Therapy to help clients better understand themselves, while also learning practical tools they can actually use in everyday life. I believe therapy doesn’t have to feel cold or overly clinical — I use humor and honest conversation to help people feel connected and safe enough to do meaningful work.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
