However long you've been dealing with anger or sexual issues, it can take a serious toll on your wellbeing.
*CSAT-Candidate. Sex addiction can have a truly negative impact on your family, your career, your relationships, and your health. Discovering that your partner has an addiction or is heavily involved in porn can be devastating to your relationship. You may feel alone and ashamed about your partner's behavior and have the urge to try to control how he acts. Although sexuality composes a large part of our lives, talking about it isn't always easy. When problems arise, it is even more difficult to discuss. Anger is a normal, healthy human emotion. However, left uncontrolled, it has the power to damage your body and your relationships.

Embrace your anger rather than fear it.
Pain is a part of life, but pain does not have to control your life. Let's face it -- the reality of pain is not the problem. How you are responding to that reality is. Addiction, loss, betrayal, change, and trauma are just a few of the ways in which pain shows up and seemingly takes over our lives. The ultimate goal of Bayview Counseling Services is NOT to remove the pain of life and living, but to help you to live your life fully and effectively in spite of the pain. Who's in charge of your life -- you or your pain?

I often utilize CBT to help challenge client's thoughts that lead to issues with people pleasing, anger management , communication skills, stress management, adjusting to life changes, and boundary setting.
Have you ever been reading something to yourself and it didn't make sense until you read it out loud? Or had a thought that you were explaining to someone and the more you talked, the more it made sense (or the more it didn't make sense)? Therapy is a lot like that. There is power in having a safe, nonjudgmental space to talk things out to help them make sense to you. I can hold that space for you.

Life can become very challenging at any given point and time in our lives. Depression, anxiety, anger /irritability, mood/behavioral changes, abuse of substances and exposure to trauma create fallacies that life will remain unmanageable for children and adults. In my 10+ years of experience, I recognize the strength in talking to someone about your challenges in order to begin the healing process. Are you struggling to manage your child's behavior? Are you struggling to manage your own emotions as an adult? Together we can identify solutions for overcoming trauma, hurts and disappointments which prevents us from moving forward.

I bring eighteen years of collective experience working with individuals from all walks of life struggling with anger , anxiety depression, PTSD, substance use, and poor relationships.
"Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending" - Maria Robinson. Are you allowing events in your past to define the person you are today? Choosing a different ending to a story that began years ago can impact your self-image and quality of life. You can learn to let go of painful experiences, discover inner qualities, and move confidently towards creating that new ending. My focus is on working together with you to find your inner strength and empower you to have courage to move forward in your life.

Together, let's pull up your current anchor of doubt, frustration, anger , and/or hopelessness and set a path headed for peace, emotional wellbeing, and healthier living.
Are you struggling with a loss? Navigating a challenging marriage? Overwhelmed with parenting, balancing home and school? Anxious about transitioning to college or the workforce? Could you use a “Life Manual” with a "how to" for this moment or the next? Or someone saying "turn to Appendix C for this"? If only it were that simple. Living is full of ups, downs, and upside-downs; twists and turns, backward and forward, and even side-to-side. Right, wrong, or other, we do our personal best in the space we’re in with the skills and information we have. No matter what your situation, help, encouragement and support is available.

Life can be difficult. The experiences we encounter can shape and mold us unto someone we may no longer recognize, understand misplaced feelings or have an impact on our daily functioning, but we continue to press... We have people relying on us, responsibilities waiting on us while fears and pain hunt us....but we continue to press....We think the feelings, flashbacks, nightmares, anger , hurt or pain will go away not realizing it is trauma. Trauma is simply an event which causes extreme distress and can manifest in different ways for different people. Lets work together to live a healthy life healed from the effects of trauma.

I focus on two areas - relationships and trauma/PTSD - with couples, individuals, and families. Couples often struggle with a lack of emotional and physical intimacy, they've lost respect & trust for each other, have little companionship, poor communication, argue about finances, sex, children, etc. Trauma/PTSD is often an underlying cause of relationship problems. Many struggle with mental health and substance use as a result. They feel stressed, damaged, alone, numb, can't sleep/concentrate, have racing thoughts, mood swings, anger . They 've tried meds, therapy, substance rehab with little success and feel stuck. Is this you?

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
