Is your relationship in big trouble? Then you want RESULTS. Practical, no-nonsense changes get you over the stuck part. Results don't come from analyzing the past, labeling you with some disorder, or dredging up every last hurt feeling and resentment you ever had. Real results come from being trained how to make changes that create happiness and connection. What I do is relationship TRAINING. There may be some things you need to learn or forgiveness or maturity that needs to improve. I am direct and straight-forward. Start getting the success you want with the specific skills, support and suggestions you need to make changes.

Many of the women I work with are the ones others rely on. From the outside, it looks like they have it together—but internally, it feels like too much. They are managing guilt, anxiety, or a sense of disconnection they can’t quite explain. They often can’t remember the last time they felt like themselves, or wonder if something is wrong with them. You are not broken.

I have enjoyed providing support in mental health for over 20 years now. We all face moments of distress and experience unplanned circumstances in our lives that we simply are not prepared for. It can be difficult to navigate our way through all of the thoughts that may come up or the different levels of pain we tend to experience and I know that reaching out for help can be challenging. All have their own healing journeys and I am grateful to be able to help individuals with discovering their unique path to healing, growth and change.

I work with people who have spent much of their lives feeling like they don’t quite fit the mold. As an openly queer and neurodivergent therapist, I understand how important it is to have a space where you can be fully yourself, without judgment or the pressure to conform. I love helping clients deconstruct the stories we’ve been told about what life “should” look like and instead explore what truly feels right and fulfilling for you. Together, we explore how systemic barriers and social expectations make it harder to thrive, understanding how oppression, expectations, and social norms impact your mental health and sense of self.

Life could be so much easier—more peaceful, more pleasurable—if you didn’t feel so damn tangled in what other people think of you. You want to go after the things you know could fulfill you … but the fear of being “too much” still lingers. That’s where I come in. I blend neuroscience, philosophy, and personal kink to help people unlearn what’s been holding them back—and reclaim the kind of radical autonomy that makes real connection possible. When you stop apologizing for who you are, you make room for the kind of love, sex, work, and self-expression that actually fits.

Hello, I’m Dr. Rolanda Harris, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in AL and FL, and the owner of Intentional Counseling and Consulting, LLC. Many of the clients who come to my practice are used to being the person who “keeps it together” for everyone else. They may appear high-functioning, responsible, and capable, but internally they are feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, anxious, disconnected, or uncertain about how to move forward. Some are navigating major life transitions, grief, chronic illness, caregiver stress, or relationship challenges. Others are college students or professionals struggling with life's pressures.

Like war, trauma from adult and childhood abuse, hurt from church and family have left many of us just limping through life. Just because you are use to the pain, it doesn't mean you or your love ones should continue to live with the pain. I am honest and I like to see results. I also like to work with clients that are ready to be honest and put in the work to see their desired results. I primarily see adult women with trauma and couples in need of support! My office has clinicians that see individuals of all ages! I am also a Qualified Supervisor that is passionate about supporting future therapists on their journey!

My ideal clients are adolescents, women, and families who are carrying stress, trauma, family tension, or emotional overwhelm that feels difficult to manage alone. Many come to therapy because they are trying to cope with anxiety, relationship strain, low self-esteem, life transitions, or the pressure of holding everything together while quietly struggling. I help by creating a supportive, culturally responsive, and safe space where clients can feel seen, be heard, build coping skills, strengthen emotional wellness, and move toward meaningful change.

Are you a Christian struggling with anxiety, ADHD, or feeling stuck and unsure how to create real, lasting change in your daily life? You’re not alone—and you don’t have to navigate it by yourself. I support Christians who want their faith to be an active, meaningful part of their healing process. Many of the people I work with experience anxiety, ADHD, emotional overwhelm, or difficulty speaking up for themselves in relationships, at work, or in everyday situations. They often feel caught in patterns they’re ready to change, but aren’t sure where to begin.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Pensacola?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
