I am a licensed psychologist in Florida with over twenty-five years of experience with children, adolescents, and adults with a wide range of mood disorders,
parenting
problems, behavior, and relationship issues. Working with patients that are having difficulties making life adjustments as life becomes more complex is what I enjoy the most because we all can become more adaptable and develop new skills and techniques to help us cope more effectively. Many people I work with are first responders, have PTSD, or are suffering from Acute Stress Disorder following a trauma.

I have worked as a Counselor for over 6 years, assisting clients with many issues including self-esteem, career problems, anxiety, depression, communication skills, decision-making, LGBQ related concerns, boundaries, burn-out,

There are many reasons why people seek counseling with me. Sometimes it's to deal with long-standing psychological issues with anxiety or depression. Other times it is in response to unexpected changes in one's life such as a divorce, a death or work transition. Therapy provides insight & new perspectives into life's challenges, creates solutions & confidence to make changes. I create a safe, warm, non-judgmental environment for my clients to explore their choices & emotions so they are able to gain insight, self-confidence & new coping skills in order to navigate life's obstacles more effectively.

Parents, children, and families are currently faced with many different challenges, that are unique to their generation and our post pandemic times. Has your previously outgoing child withdrawn, grades dropped, behavior at school increase? It can be overwhelming to feel there is no light at the end of the tunnel, and no one understands. Don't struggle in silence or alone. Instead of searching for what is "wrong" with clients, I work to find the strengths and power of client to begin the healing journey. I work with children, adolescences, and adults.

Marriage is a challenge. A beautiful challenge, but a challenge nonetheless. Money fights, personality differences, past wounds, unmet expectations, communication styles and conflict resolution are just a few of the major challenges married people are likely to face. Your marriage should be a source of refuge and strength, but too often it becomes a primary factor in anxiety, depression or fatigue. Just as the tires on a car can get out of alignment and drift in dangerous directions, so can a marriage. As a therapist, my goal is to help you and your spouse align your tires and get moving in the right direction.

As a Christian therapist, I am honored to join with individuals, couples, and families who are seeking personal and relational insight and healing, through the pairing of cognitive/behavioral interventions with the wisdom of scripture and prayer. I understand the decision to embark on this journey may seem scary and challenging. It may be difficult to trust that you, along with your thoughts, feelings, struggles, and vulnerabilities, will be treated empathetically and professionally. Thus, I have a deep respect and admiration for those who seek wise counsel. ~ He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. ~ Psalm 147:3

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
