These components must work in tandem/work together for a couple to move forward in their
relationship
.
Marriage is a challenge. A beautiful challenge, but a challenge nonetheless. Money fights, personality differences, past wounds, unmet expectations, communication styles and conflict resolution are just a few of the major challenges married people are likely to face. Your marriage should be a source of refuge and strength, but too often it becomes a primary factor in anxiety, depression or fatigue. Just as the tires on a car can get out of alignment and drift in dangerous directions, so can a marriage. As a therapist, my goal is to help you and your
spouse
align your tires and get moving in the right direction.

As a Christian therapist, I am honored to join with individuals,
couples
, and families who are seeking personal and relational insight and healing, through the pairing of cognitive/behavioral interventions with the wisdom of scripture and prayer. I understand the decision to embark on this journey may seem scary and challenging. It may be difficult to trust that you, along with your thoughts, feelings, struggles, and vulnerabilities, will be treated empathetically and professionally. Thus, I have a deep respect and admiration for those who seek wise counsel. ~ He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. ~ Psalm 147:3

Hey there! I help anxious overthinkers struggling with
relationship
wounds to heal their inner child and discover self-compassion. You feel like you’re always on high-alert for the next betrayal or abandonment, so you struggle to find peace in your relationships - and with yourself. Your friends might even call you an “empath” because you’re hyper-attuned to the emotions of those around you (little do they know, it can be quite a curse). You've been hurt in the past and you're tired of feeling like it's dictating your future. I get it, and I'm here to help.

I have over a decade of experience in mental health, substance abuse, and
couples
/family therapy.
Have you ever felt overwhelmed? Like the weight of the world was on your shoulders and you couldn't balance it. Have you ever felt numb? Like nothing in the world could make you feel alive. Have you ever felt disconnected? Like no one understands who you are. Have you ever felt that the only way to cope was to turn to drugs or alcohol? Like there was no way out of the darkness. If you answered yes to any of those questions, you are like the other 43 million Americans who struggle with mental health concerns; with over half also struggling with substance abuse. You are not alone, there is help available; there is a better way.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
